PRIMARY PREVENTION EDUCATION (PPE) - MCAPP, SINCE 2013, HAS ESTABLISHED VITAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS AT ALL THE MOLOKA`I SCHOOLS (KAUNAKAKAI, KILOHANA, KUALAPU`U, AND MAUNALOA ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS; MOLOKA`I MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS; AKAULA CHARTER SCHOOL; AND MOLOKA`I ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY HEAD START PRE-SCHOOL). CONSISTENT, COMPETENT DELIVERY OF PRIMARY PREVENTION EDUCATION HAS INCREASED AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION AND EARNED MCAPP PERMISSION TO PROVIDE PPE DURING REGULAR CLASSROOM TIME. THE MCAPP TEAM TEACHES THE FOLLOWING CULTURALLY RELEVANT, EVIDENCE-BASED, SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION CURRICULA: RESPECT - TAUGHT TO MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS; MY BODY MY BOUNDARIES, AND MY BODY IS SPECIAL - TAUGHT TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS. MCAPP ALSO WORKS TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS REGARDING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE POLICIES THAT SUPPORT THE PREVENTION OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE. IN ADDITION, MCAPP ASSESSES EVALUATION/OUTCOMES BY UTILIZING ADJUSTED PRIOR EVALUATION INSTRUMENTS, WHILE ALSO DEVELOPING MEASURES OF VALUE CREATION UTILIZING THE COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE MODEL (TO IMPLEMENT AT A FUTURE DATE).
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT - MCAPP'S OUTREACH TO AGENCIES, ORGANIZATIONS, AND SCHOOLS BEGAN IN 2012, WHEN OPERATING AS A PROGRAM UNDER THE CONSUELO FOUNDATION, AND HAS GROWN CONSISTENTLY TO DATE. OUTREACH OBJECTIVES ARE TO STOP SEXUAL VIOLENCE BEFORE IT OCCURS, AS WELL AS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF HOW CHILDHOOD SEXUAL VIOLENCE ADVERSELY IMPACTS ALL ASPECTS OF MOLOKA`I COMMUNITY LIFE AND CONTRIBUTES DIRECTLY TO MANY OF THE ISLAND'S MORE VISIBLE CHALLENGES.
