PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: BEYOND THE BOMB'S EXEMPT PURPOSES ARE TO GENERATE A SUSTAINED NAIONAL DEBATE ABOUT NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND THEIR INHERENT RISKS, AND TO BUILD SUPPORT IN CONGRESS FOR MEASURES TO REDUCE THOSE RISKS, INCLUDING LEGISTATION BANNING NUCLEAR FIRST STRIKES ABSENT A DECLARATION OF WAR AND REDUCTIONS IN FEDERAL SPENDING FOR NUCLEAR MODERNIZATION PROGRAMS. BEYOND THE BOMB ACCOMPLISHES ITS PURPOSE THROUGH GRASSROOTS ORGANIZING, PUBLIC EDUCATION AND MOBILIZATION, LOBBYING MEMBERS OF CONGRESS AND THEIR STAFFS IN WASHINGTON DC AND DISTRICT OFFICES, NEWS MEDIA OUTREACH, AND DIGITAL CONTENT DISTRIBUTION.
