Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
SKYDOG RANCH IS A FOREVER HOME FOR WILD MUSTANGS AND BURROS WHO HAVE ENDED UP IN HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS SITUATIONS - AT KILL PENS, AT AUCTIONS, OR IN UNLOVING HOMES WHERE THEY HAVE OFTEN BEEN STARVED AND NEGLECTED. WE ARE ALSO HOME TO SEVERAL WILD HORSE FAMILIES THAT WE HAVE REUNITED AFTER BEING SEPARATED DURING ROUNDUPS. THE HORSES HERE REPRESENT SO MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THE MUSTANG ISSUE: ONCE ROUNDED UP BY THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT, MANY SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS AND END UP WITHOUT THE MOST BASIC CARE AND AFFECTION.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
IN 2023, WE FOCUSED ON HORSE TRAINER RETURNS. THESE ARE HORSES OR DONKEYS WHO WERE ADOPTED OR TAKEN BY TRAINERS WHO FAILED TO GENTLE AND DOMESTICATE THEM. WE STARTED THE YEAR WITH FOUR TRAINER RETURNS FROM THE BLM BURNS CORALS, AND THEN MOVED ON TO TWO MORE MARES FROM THE CORRALS WHO HAD SPECIAL NEEDS OR WERE UNADOPTABLE. WE SAVED SEVERAL KILL PEN HORSES AND DONKEYS. WE ALSO RESCUED A CHINCOTEAGUE PONY WITH THE HELP OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT THERE.WE REUNITED SEVERAL HORSES WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY FROM THE RANGE AND FORGIVING TUESDAY, WE TOOK OVER SEVERAL RELINQUISHMENT AND KILL PEN MARES.THIS YEAR WE DID SEVERAL COLLABORATIONS WITH INCREDIBLE ORGANIZATIONS, SUCH AS BLUE SKY AUBERGE WITH GRACIE'S FOUNDATION WHO WERE KIND ENOUGH TO TAKE FOUR OF OUR COLTS. WE ALSO PARTNERED WITH AN INCREDIBLE CONSERVATION ORGANIZATION TO HOPEFULLY ACQUIRE MORE LAND SO THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO SAVE MORE HORSES AND DONKEYS.YET AGAIN, WE INCREASED OUR PATREON MEMBERSHIP, HELPING WITH FUNDS WHICH COME IN EVERY MONTH WITHOUT FAIL TO HELP PAY VET BILLS, AND HAY COSTS WHICH ARE OUR BIGGEST EXPENSES. THE BLUE ZEUS COFFEE BOOK SOLD OUT VERY QUICKLY AS WELL AS THE SANT AND ABLE PAJAMAS WE MADE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THEM. WE ALSO WERE APPROACHED BY BREYER HORSE MODELS TO MAKE A MODEL OF BLUE ZEUS, WHICH IS A HUGE HONOR.WE DID A COUPLE MORE STORIES WITH THE DODO WHICH INCREASED OUR SOCIAL MEDIA NUMBERS WHICH PASSED 200,000 ON INSTAGRAM AND OVER 750,000 ON FACEBOOK.IT WAS ANOTHER HUGELY SUCCESSFUL YEAR FOR SKYDOG AND WE WERE ALSO ABLE TO TAKE ON MORE EQUINE STAFF TO HELP TAKE CARE OF OUR HORSES AND DONKEYS.WE CONTINUE TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT OUR WILD HORSES AND DONKEYS AND MORE PEOPLE BECOME AWARE OF THEIR PLIGHT IN THE WESTERN STATES.
