THE OPEN IMAGERY NETWORK INC., DBA RADIANT EARTH FOUNDATION, SUCCESSFULLY EXPANDED ITS SERVICES IN 2021 TO BETTER SERVE OUR USER COMMUNITY. WE'VE EXPANDED THE RADIANT MLHUB ECOSYSTEM AND INFRASTRUCTURE BY ADDING SEVERAL NEW DATASETS AND DATA ACCESS FUNCTIONALITIES. WE ALSO ROLLED OUT THE MACHINE LEARNING MODEL REPOSITORY TO COMPLETE THE REPRODUCIBILITY CYCLE OF GEOSPATIAL MACHINE LEARNING PROJECTS. THE RESULT IS THAT MACHINE LEARNING EXPERTS AND PRACTITIONERS NOW HAVE ACCESS TO MORE HIGH-QUALITY MACHINE LEARNING-READY DATA AND MODELS THAT THEY CAN TRUST. WE'VE STRENGTHENED COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE TO DEVELOP STANDARDS AROUND MACHINE LEARNING ON EARTH OBSERVATION. THE VERSION 1.0 OF THE SPATIOTEMPORAL ASSET CATALOG (STAC) SPECIFICATION THAT RADIANT EARTH INITIATED IN 2017 WAS RELEASED IN 2021. THIS IS THE FIRST STABLE VERSION OF STAC AND IT HAS SINCE BECOME THE INTEROPERABLE STANDARD FOR SPATIAL DATA CATALOGS. WE ALSO RELEASED AN STAC EXTENSION TO CATALOG GEOSPATIAL MODELS. THE STAC COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO GROW, AND MORE OPEN-SOURCE TOOLS AND GUIDELINES ARE BEING DEVELOPED BY VARIOUS PLAYERS IN THE ECOSYSTEM.WE ORGANIZED INTERNATIONAL DATA COMPETITIONS AND CONVENINGS THAT BUILT GEOSPATIAL DATA CAPACITY AMONG DATA SCIENTISTS AND EXPOSED GEO-DIVERSE TRAINING DATASETS TO THE COMMUNITY. OUR FIRST VIRTUAL TRAINING BOOTCAMP WAS ORGANIZED FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM RWANDA, UGANDA, GHANA AND SOUTH AFRICA, AND THE MATERIALS FROM THIS TRAINING HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED AS AN ONLINE COURSE FOR OTHER INTERESTED INDIVIDUALS. ADDING TO OUR HIGH ENGAGEMENT LEVELS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, WE HAVE INTRODUCED AN ANNUAL RECOGNITION OF WOMEN IN ML4EO SPACE THAT WE LAUNCHED ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY TO RECOGNIZE WOMEN LEADERS IN OUR COMMUNITY. THROUGH OUR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS, WE'VE INCREASED AWARENESS ABOUT EARTH OBSERVATION RESOURCES AND MACHINE LEARNING'S CAPABILITIES TO SUPPORT SOLUTIONS FOR PERSISTENT GLOBAL PROBLEMS.WE SIGNED A PARTNERSHIP WITH MICROSOFT AI FOR EARTH PROGRAM TO ESTABLISH BETTER INTEGRATION BETWEEN RADIANT MLHUB AND MICROSOFT PLANETARY COMPUTER, AND EXPAND SOME OF THE TOOLING AROUND STAC. WE ALSO RECEIVED AN AWARD FROM ENABLING CROP ANALYTICS AT SCALE, AN INITIATIVE OF THE BILL AND MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION MANAGED BY TETRA TECH TO RUN A PILOT PROJECT IN INDIA JOINTLY WITH OUR COLLABORATORS AT IDINSIGHT FOCUSED ON MAPPING AGRICULTURAL FIELDS. IN ADDITION, WE HAVE SIGNED CONTRACTS WITH NASA HARVEST AND DEVGLOBAL TO SUPPORT THEM IN GENERATING DATASETS RELATED TO AGRICULTURAL FIELD BOUNDARY MAPPING AND BUILDING FOOTPRINT DETECTION FOR MICROPLANNING. OUR 2021 ANNUAL REPORT PROVIDES MORE DETAILS ON OUR ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
