PARASITES WITHOUT BORDERS WILL SERVE AS A COMPREHENSIVE, ADVANCED EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE AND DISSEMINATOR OF BASIC AND CLINICAL INFORMATION DEALING WITH ALL ASPECTS OF THE GLOBAL PROBLEM OF PARASITIC DISEASES THAT ADVERSELY AFFECTS PEOPLES AROUND THE WORLD.

PWB SUPPORT ENABLED THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF ANTHELMINTIC MEDICATIONS TO TREAT 25,000 CASES OF PARASITIC DISEASE IN HUMANS AND ANIMALS IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE, AS WELL AS ROUTINE TREATMENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF PARASITIC INFECTION IN EVERY PATIENT ENCOUNTER. PWB ALSO ENABLED THE SOURCING AND SHIPPING OF 12,000 BARS OF SOAP FOR DISTRIBUTION TO OUR PATIENTS.THE IMPACT OF PWB'S SUPPORT TO ASTMH: PROVIDED THREE TRAVEL AWARDS FOR THREE QUALIFIED FEMALE STUDENTS, EARLY-CAREER INVESTIGATORS OR SCIENTISTS ACTIVELY WORKING IN THE TROPICAL MEDICINE FIELD FROM LOW- AND MIDDLE-INCOME COUNTRIES TO ATTEND THE ASTMH 2021 ANNUAL MEETING TO PRESENT THEIR WORK, LEARN FROM OTHERS IN THEIR AREA, AND NETWORK TO DEVELOP COLLABORATIONS. (SINCE THE MEETING WAS HELD VIRTUALLY DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THE TRAVEL AWARD RECIPIENTS ATTENDED THE 2022 ANNUAL MEETING IN PERSON, OCTOBER 30 NOVEMBER 3, 2022 IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA.)SUPPORTED THE ASTMH MISSION OF REDUCING THE WORLDWIDE BURDEN OF TROPICAL INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND IMPROVING GLOBAL HEALTH. THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF TROPICAL MEDICINE AND HYGIENE, FOUNDED IN 1903, IS THE LARGEST INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION OF EXPERTS DEDICATED TO REDUCING THE WORLDWIDE BURDEN OF TROPICAL INFECTIOUS DISEASES AND IMPROVING GLOBAL HEALTH. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH GENERATING AND SHARING SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE, INFORMING HEALTH POLICIES AND PRACTICES, FOSTERING CAREER DEVELOPMENT, RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE, AND ADVOCATING FOR INVESTMENT IN TROPICAL MEDICINE/GLOBAL HEALTH RESEARCH. ASTMH HAS A CORE MEMBERSHIP OF 3,000 AND MONTHLY NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS OF 17,000+.THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF PWB, FIMRC WAS ABLE TO REOPEN ITS CLINIC IN BUDUDA, UGANDA AFTER A BRIEF CLOSURE DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDS. THE CLINIC IS NOW BACK OPEN AND SEEING ABOUT 100 CHILDREN AND THEIR PARENTS PER DAY. DR. GRIFFIN EVEN VISITED THE BUDUDA SITE AND WORKED WITH OUR STAFF SEEING PATIENTS. THE SUPPORT FROM PWB BOTH FINANCIALLY AND THROUGH THEIR ONGOING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS CONTINUES TO ALLOW OUR ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE CARE AT OUR CLINICS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR ASPIRING YOUNG PEOPLE INTERESTED IN GLOBAL HEALTH.
