THE FOUNDATION IS ORGANIZED FOR THE SUPPORT AND BENEFIT OF SCISSORTAIL PARK, WITH A MISSION TO OFFER A BEAUTIFUL. WELL-MAINTAINED FACILITY FOR THE COMMUNITY.

Part 3 - Line 4a

THE UPPER PARK'S 35-ACRES OFFERS WALKING PATHS, GARDENS, SEASONAL PLANT DISPLAYS AND AN EXTENSIVE TREE COLLECTION. FACILITIES INCLUDE: CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND, INTERACTIVE FOUNTAINS, SEASONAL ROLLER RINK, LAKE WITH BOAT RENTALS AND A VARIETY OF EXERCISE PROGRAMS AND OTHER RECREATIONAL AND CULTURAL PROGRAMS, PICNIC PAVILIONS, DOG PARK AND PERFORMANCE STAGE. THE PARK OFFERS FREE EDUCATION/CULTURAL/RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING DESIGNED TO ATTRACT DIVERSE AUDIENCES. EVENTS INCLUDE A WEEKLY FARMER'S MARKET WITH OVER 50 SMALL FARMS AND ARTISANAL PRODUCERS AT THE MARKET THAT RUNS APRIL THROUGH OCTOBER. A SPRING THROUGH FALL CONCERT SCHEDULE INCLUDES A DIVERSE LINEUP OF QUALITY CONCERTS THAT INCLUDE CLASSICAL TO COUNTRY. THE STAGE IS ALSO USED FOR DANCE PERFORMANCES INCLUDING THE OKC BALLET AND ETHNIC DANCE EVENTS. SEASONAL FESTIVALS INCLUDE: A SPRING KITE FESTIVAL, FALL HALLOWEEN PARTIES AND HOLIDAY LIGHTING AND CONCERTS. THE PARK ALSO COLLABORATES WITH DOZENS OF COMMUNITY NONPROFIT GROUPS TO OFFER FREE EVENTS INCLUDING A MENORAH LIGHT FESTIVAL, PRIDE FESTIVAL, NATIVE AMERICAN POW WOWS, COLOR OF ART, CINCO DE MAYO, THE OKC MEMORIAL MARATHON AND DIOS DE LOS MUERTOS FESTIVAL. WE ESTIMATE THE PARK HAS OVER 500,000 VISTORS IN THIS FISCAL YEAR. THROUGHOUT THIS PAST FISCAL YEAR, THE PARK HAS BEEN MAKING PLANS TO TAKE ON THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PARK'S ADDITIONAL 34-ACRE LOWER PARK WHICH IS DUE TO OPEN IN THE FALL OF 2022.
