OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE GENTLY USED, DONATED FURNITURE AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS TO THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED PERSONAL TRAGEDY OR DISASTER. OUR GOAL IS TO DECREASE HUMAN SUFFERING IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA AND ASSIST THE COMMUNITY IN NEED TO ACHIEVE RESTORED HOPE, SELF-ESTEEM AND THE STABILITY TO MOVE AHEAD. WE BELIEVE THAT NO ONE SHOULD BE FORCED TO LIVE, SLEEP, OR EAT ON THE FLOOR. WE SERVE VETERANS, HOMELESS FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS TRANSITIONING TO HOUSING, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS, FOSTER CHILDREN AGING OUT, REFUGEES, VICTIMS OF FIRE AND FLOODING AND LOW-INCOME EARNING FAMILIES. OVER 40% OF OUR CLIENTS SERVED ARE CHILDREN. WE PROVIDE THESE ITEMS AT NO COST TO THE CLIENT.

THE BAY AREA FURNITURE BANK PICKS UP UNNEEDED USED FURNITURE AND DELIVERS IT TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES MOVING OUT OF HOMELESSNESS OR WHO ARE IN NEED. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, THE BAFB DELIVERED 6,422 PIECES OF FURNITURE TO 860 HOUSEHOLDS. THE BAFB WORKED WITH 45 SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES AND PROGRAMS TO IDENTIFY THESE HOUSEHOLDS AND TO PROVIDE THEM WITH FURNITURE. TO HELP PROVIDE THESE SERVICES, THE BAFB RECEIVED DONATIONS OF THE USE OF WAREHOUSE SPACE, THE USE OF A DELIVERY TRUCK, AND TIME SPENT BY VOLUNTEERS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR, THE BAFB ESTIMATES THE VALUE OF THESE ITEMS WAS $640,000, $42,000, AND $35,000 RESPECTIVELY.
