PROVIDING VOCATIONAL TRAINING, DAY PROGRAM, AND COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES THAT ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES SO THAT THEY MAY SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVE THEIR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS.

THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTION, DAY PROGRAMMING, AND COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES TO ADULTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN SAN LUIS OBISPO AND NORTHERN SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES. THERE ARE THREE COMPONENTS TO THE VOCATIONAL PROGRAM, ALL OF WHICH ARE SUPPORTED BY A VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTOR TO ENSURE CLIENTS ARE SUCCESSFUL IN THEIR EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT. THE FIRST STEP IN THE VOCATIONAL PROCESS IS THE WORK ACTIVITY PROGRAM WHICH OPERATES AS A SUBCONTRACTING BUSINESS. THE SECOND STEP IS THE SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM, WHICH IS A COMMUNITY BASED GROUP PLACEMENT OF 3-4 INDIVIUDALS, HIRED BY A BUSINESS, TO FULFILL SPECIFIC JOB SERVICES. THE THIRD STEP IS THE INDIVIDUAL/DIRECT PLACEMENT PROGRAM IN WHICH AN INDIVIDUAL CLIENT IS HIRED DIRECTLY BY AN EMPLOYER TO PERFORM VARIOUS JOB DUTIES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OFFERS AN ACTIVITY CENTER AND COMMUNITY BASED DAY PROGRAM FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS THAT TEACHES DAILY LIVING SKILLS, WELLNESS ACTIVITIES, ADVOCACY, AND OTHER CREATIVE OUTLETS. THEIR COMMUNITY LIVING SERVICES PROGRAM TEACHES AND AIDS DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED ADULTS HOW TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN THE COMMUNITY.
