ALLES INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH CONTINUED ITS COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH PROJECT AT MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2020. THE RESEARCHER IS EXPLORING A QUANTITATIVE PCR METHOD TO TEST THE GENETIC EXPRESSION OF T-REGULATORY CELLS. PCR IS A TECHNIQUE USED TO AMPLIFY DNA TO GENERATE MILLIONS OF COPIES OF A PARTICULAR DNA SEQUENCE. THROUGH SIDE-BY-SIDE COMPARISON OF PCR AND FLOW CYTOMETRY METHODS, SHE WILL BE ABLE TO TRACK THE ACCURACY OF PCR RESULTS. THE FINDINGS OF THIS RESEARCH MAY PROVIDE A NEW, ACCURATE, AND MORE EFFECTIVE TECHNIQUE FOR TRACKING T-REGULATORY CELLS IN TYPE 1 DIABETES AND OTHER AUTOIMMUNE RESEARCH.
