U.S. CATHOLIC SISTERS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS A COLLABORATIVE, FAITH-BASED NATIONAL NETWORK THAT OFFERS EDUCATION, SUPPORTS ACCESS TO SURVIVOR SERVICES, AND ENGAGES IN ADVOCACY IN AN EFFORT TO ERADICATE MODERN-DAY SLAVERY.

THE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAM INCLUDES SEVERAL COMPONENTS: SPEAKING AT CONFERENCES AND/OR ATTENDING AS AN EXHIBITOR TO SHARE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES, HOSTING OUR OWN IN PERSON NATIONAL CONFERENCE,GIVING PRESENTATIONS AND HOSTING WEBINARS, ELECTRONIC OUTREACH, AND SHARING PRINTED AND VIDEO MATERIAL. DURING 2022 USCSAHT PARTICIPATED IN MANY NATIONAL CONFERENCES, HOSTED OR PRESENTED AT WEBINARS, AND HELD OUR OWN NATIONAL CONFERENCE. IN ALL, WE REACHED MORE THAN 25,000 PEOPLE BOTH VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON WITH IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PREVENTING AND IDENTIFYING HUMAN TRAFFICKING. WE AMPLIFIED OUR REACH BY PROVIDING SHARABLE ANTI-TRAFFICKING MATERIAL ON OUR WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, TWITTER INSTAGRAM, AND YOUTUBE. EACH MONTH AN AVERAGE OF 4,000 PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD VISIT THE WEBSITE, AND WE HAVE OVER 5,000 FOLLOWERS OF OUR VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA SITES. IN 2022,WE PRODUCED THREE SHORT VIDEOS AS WELL AS DIGITAL AND PRINT RESOURCES, INCLUDING OUR MONTHLY STOP TRAFFICKING NEWSLETTER. WE PROVIDE MANY RESOURCES IN BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, WE SPENT ROUGHLY $134,418 BEFORE INCLUDING PAYROLL RELATED COST.
DIRECT SURVIVOR SERVICES:IN 2022, USCSAHT HOSTED TWO RETREATS FOR SURVIVORS -ONE FOR WOMEN SURVIVORS AND THE OTHER,THE FIRST OF ITS KIND, TO MALE SURVIVORS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. USCSAHT ALSO PROVIDED FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO MANY INDIVIDUAL SURVIVORS AND HOUSES THAT SERVE SURVIVORS. THESE FUNDS PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS, ASSISTED WITH RENT AND MEDICAL BILLS,MOVING COSTS,AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS TO HOUSES THAT NEED MAINTENANCE. THE SURVIVOR SERVICES WORKING GROUP CONTINUES TO BUILD A CURRENT AND ACCURATE DATABASE OF MEMBERS CONNECTED TO HOUSES THAT SERVE SURVIVORS. USCSAHT IS SURVIVOR INFORMED BY ITS SURVIVOR ADVISORY COUNCIL. TOWARD THE END OF 2022, USCSAHT BEGAN WORK TO DEVELOP A GRANT PROGRAM TO HOUSES FOR SURVIVORS WHO ARE AFFILIATED WITH OUR ORGANIZATION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, WE SPENT ROUGHLY $81,447 BEFORE INCLUDING PAYROLL RELATED COST.
ADVOCACY: MANY ADVOCACY MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. OUR AIM IS TO ASSIST THOSE ENGAGED IN ANTI-TRAFFICKING WORK TO ENGAGE WITH THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS REGARDING THE ROOT CAUSES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. TO THAT END, WE HAVE ALSO HOSTED TRAININGS ON THE BASICS OF ADVOCACY WORK WITH THE HOPE OF EMPOWERING MORE PEOPLE TO ENGAGE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. WE ALSO HAVE INFORMATIONAL PACKETS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD FOR LEGISLATORS ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH OTHER KEY JUSTICE ISSUES. IN 2022 USCSAHT PROMOTED CAMPAIGNS TO RENEW THE TRAFFICKING VICTIMS PROTECTION ACT (TVPA). WE ARE ALSO IN THE BEGINNING PHASE OF A JOINT ADVOCACY PROJECT WITH THE NATIONAL ADVOCACY CENTER OF THE SISTERS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD. THE PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON THE NEXUS BETWEEN HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND FORCED MIGRATION. IN FISCAL YEAR 2022, WE SPENT ROUGHLY $3,000 BEFORE INCLUDING PAYROLL RELATED COST.
