U.S. CATHOLIC SISTERS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS A COLLABORATIVE, FAITH-BASED NATIONAL NETWORK THAT OFFERS EDUCATION, SUPPORTS ACCESS TO SURVIVOR SERVICES, AND ENGAGES IN ADVOCACY IN AN EFFORT TO ERADICATE MODERN-DAY SLAVERY.

THE EDUCATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAM INCLUDES SEVERAL COMPONENTS: SPEAKING AT CONFERENCES AND/OR ATTENDING AS AN EXHIBITOR TO SHARE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES, GIVING PRESENTATIONS AND HOSTING WEBINARS, ELECTRONIC OUTREACH, AND SHARING PRINTED AND VIDEO MATERIAL. EVENTS/BOOTHS:DURING 2021 USCSAHT PARTICIPATED IN 8 NATIONAL CONFERENCES REACHING OVER 15,000 PEOPLE BOTH VIRTUALLY AND IN PERSON WITH IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PREVENTING AND IDENTIFYING HUMAN TRAFFICKING. WE ALSO GAVE 12 VIRTUAL PRESENTATIONS TO VARIOUS GROUPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY REACHING HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. WEBINARS:USCSAHT HOSTED 8 EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS RELATED TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND SUPPORTING SURVIVORS THAT AROUND 1,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED. ELECTRONIC OUTREACH:USCSAHT PROVIDES IMPORTANT ANTI-TRAFFICKING INFORMATION THROUGH VARIOUS ELECTRONIC MEDIA--WEBSITE,FACEBOOK,TWITTER, INSTAGRAM AND YOUTUBE. EACH MONTH AN AVERAGE OF 4,000 PEOPLE FROM AROUND THE WORLD VISIT THE WEBSITE, AND WE HAVE 5,000 FOLLOWERS OF OUR VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA SITES. PRINTED & VIDEO MATERIAL:INFORMATION REGARDING HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND ITS INTERSECTION WITH OTHER SECTORS IN BOTH ENGLISH AND SPANISH PRINT RESOURCES, AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ON OUR WEBSITE AND DISTRIBUTED AT IN-PERSON EVENTS, INCLUDING A MONTHLY STOP TRAFFICKING NEWSLETTER. WE ALSO CONTINUE TO CREATE MORE VIDEO CONTENT ABOUT OUR WORK AND IMPORTANT ANTI-TRAFFICKING INFORMATION WHICH ARE VIEWED ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL BY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE.
DIRECT SURVIVOR SERVICES: IN 2021, USCSAHT PROVIDED FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO SEVEN INDIVIDUAL SURVIVORS AND THREE HOUSES THAT SERVE SURVIVORS. THESE FUNDS PROVIDED EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS, ASSISTED WITH RENT AND MEDICAL BILLS, MOVING COSTS, PROVIDED A VAN FOR GROUP TRANSPORTATION, AND ENSURED NEEDED HOME REPAIRS COULD BE MADE. THE SURVIVOR SERVICES WORKING GROUP CONTINUES TO BUILD A CURRENT AND ACCURATE DATABASE OF MEMBERS CONNECTED TO HOUSES THAT SERVE SURVIVORS. THEY ALSO LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAM FOCUS ON INCARCERATION AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING, DISTRIBUTING INFORMATIONAL PAMPHLETS TO OVER 50 JAILS/PRISONS AND GIVING TWO PRESENTATIONS TO DOZENS OF PRISON CHAPLAINS AND VOLUNTEERS. VALUING THE INPUT AND EXPERIENCE OF SURVIVORS, IN 2021 USCSAHT LAUNCHED A SURVIVOR ADVISORY COUNCIL MADE UP OF 5 DIVERSE SURVIVORS TO HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE PROGRAMMING OF THE ORGANIZATION.
ADVOCACY: MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE FOR THOSE ENGAGED IN ANTI-TRAFFICKING WORK ON HOW TO ENGAGE WITH THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS REGUARDING THE ROOT CAUSES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING, AND WE HAVE INFORMAL PACKETS AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD FOR LEGISLATORS ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND ITS INTERSECTIONS WITH OTHER KEY JUSTICE ISSUES. IN 2021 USCSAHT PROMOTED CAMPAIGNS TO SUPPORT SEAFARERS AND PREVENT TRAFFICKING, END CHILD LABOR, KEEP KIDS SAFE ONLINE FROM TRAFFICKERS, AND RENEW THE TRAFFICKING VICTIMS PROTECTION ACT (TVPA). WE ALSO WERE A CO-SPONSOR IN THE SHINE THE LIGHT CONFERENCE IN MARCH HOSTED BY THE GOOD SHEPHERD ADVOCACY CENTER TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT HUMAN TRAFFICKING.
