THE CHINCOTEAGUE CULTURAL ALLIANCE IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT 501(C)3 ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES AND PRESENTS ARTS AND CULTURE IN ALL FORMS ON CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND. OUR MISSION IS: TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESIDENTS AND VISITORS TO THE EASTERN SHORE TO EXPERIENCE AND LEARN ABOUT THE ARTS; TO CREATE A SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR ARTISTS THAT IMPROVES THEIR CAPACITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY LIFE; AND TO CULTIVATE COLLABORATIONS THAT ADVANCE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE PROMOTION OF ARTS AND CULTURE.

Part 3 - Line 4a

CCA'S ANNUAL PLEIN AIR ART EVENT INVOLVED 53 ARTISTS PAINTING OUTDOORS FOR A WEEK ON CHINCOTEAGUE AND ASSATEAGUE ISLANDS WHERE THE PUBLIC COULD OBSERVE AND INTERACT WITH THEM. THE EVENT CONCLUDED WITH A PUBLIC EXHIBITION ATTENDED BY AT LEAST 300 PEOPLE WHO CAME TO MEET THE ARTISTS, SEE THEIR WORK AND, FOR SOME, PURCHASE PAINTINGS OF THE TOWN AND ITS NATURAL SURROUNDINGS.


IN 2023, CCA PROGRAMS ALSO INCLUDED THE CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND FARMERS & ARTISANS MARKET, THE ISLAND COFFEEHOUSE, FREE FILMS IN THE TOWN PARK, STORYTELLING EVENTS, ART CLASSES, THE KITCHEN ART GALLERY AND FAMILY FUN DAY. THESE EVENTS INVOLVED SCORES OF PERFORMERS, TEACHERS AND VOLUNTEERS, AS WELL AS HUNDREDS OF PARTICIPANTS AND AUDIENCE MEMBERS.


THE CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND THEATRE COMPANY IS A CCA PROGRAM THAT PRODUCES PLAYS, CABARETS, AND STAGED READINGS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IT INVOLVES AREA RESIDENTS AS ACTORS AND STAGE PERSONNEL, PROVIDING TRAINING AND OPPORTUNITIES TO BOTH ADULTS AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. AND IT GIVES RESIDENTS AND VISITORS THE CHANCE TO SEE A VARIETY OF THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES.


MUSIC AT THE DOCK IS A SERIES OF FREE SUMMER CONCERTS IN THE TOWN'S ROBERT REED PARK PRESENTING A VARIETY OF STYLES AND ATTRACTING AVERAGE AUDIENCES OF 200 OR MORE, INCLUDING AREA RESIDENTS AND TOURISTS. A LOCAL REALTY COMPANY CO-SPONSORS THE SERIES COVERING HALF OF THE PERFORMANCE FEES.
