THE MISSION OF THE SUFFOLK CENTER FOR CULTURAL ARTS IS TO ENCOURAGE AND ADVOCATE THE VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS BY PROVIDING A FORUM WHERE DIVERSE AUDIENCES CAN ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN CULTURAL EXPERIENCES. THE SUFFOLK CENTER FOR CULTURAL ARTS IS COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF SUFFOLK BY ENHANCING THE LIFE EXPERIENCES OF OUR CITIZENS AND VISITORS.

IN FY 2021-2022, THE SUFFOLK CENTER FOR CULTURAL ARTS CONTINUED TO OFFER A MYRIAD OF EXCITING ART PROGRAMS FOR SUFFOLK, THE WESTERN TIDEWATER REGION, AND BEYOND, INSPIRING THE COMMUNITY AND ENRICHING LIVES THROUGH THE ARTS. WITH THE EASING OF PANDEMIC RESTRICTIONS, WE RESUMED OUR FULL PERFORMANCE SEASON AND HOSTED A FULL CALENDAR OF SHOWS, DANCE RECITALS, AUTHOR LECTURES, AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. WHEN SUFFOLK PUBLIC SCHOOLS ANNOUNCED EARLY CLOSURES EVERY OTHER WEEK, WE OFFERED A LOW-COST ART ACADEMY FOR GRADES 35 FOR AFTER-SCHOOL HOURS. WE OFFERED MUSICAL THEATER, ART, AND STEAM SUMMER CAMPS, INCLUDING FULL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 17 STUDENTS, ALONG WITH A RANGE OF ART CLASSES YEAR-ROUND FOR ADULTS AND KIDS, FROM PAINTING TO POTTERY TO DANCE. WE HOSTED THE PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL, 12 GALLERY EXHIBITS, AND A GALLERY SHOP SELLING PIECES BY 70 LOCAL ARTISTS.
