THE SOUTHERN MAINE RIVER RATS TEACHES LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK THROUGH THE GAMES OF BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL. THE ORGANIZATION HAS EXPANDED TO 31 TEAMS AND HAS CLOSE TO 400 PLAYERS INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM WON SEVERAL TOURNAMENTS AND EARNED SEVERAL CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH THE AGE BRACKETS OF BOTH SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL. THIS PAST YEAR THE ORGANIZATION PRESENTED TWO SCHOLARSHIPS TO PLAYERS DESERVING OF THE SMRR LEADERSHIP AWARD.
