CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION AND SURVEILLANCE: UPHE IS WORKING WITH SALT LAKE COUNTY LEAD SAFE HOUSING PROGRAM VIA A GRANT TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE NECESSITY OF HAVING CHILDREN TESTED FOR LEAD POISONING FOR AGES UNDER SIX YEARS OLD. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, THE COMMUNITY WILL BE MORE INFORMED ON THE DANGERS OF LEAD, AND KNOW WHERE THEY CAN GO FOR HELP. THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, UPHE WILL MAINTAIN AND SUSTAIN AN ONGOING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE TARGETED COMMUNITY AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS THROUGH CONTINUOUS COMMUNICATION, WORK PLANS AND IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES WE WILL HELP CHILDREN GET TESTED FOR LEAD EXPOSURE AND CONNECT RESIDENCE WITH RESOURCES TO REMEDIATE LEAD FROM THEIR HOMES.
BURN SMART SUMMIT COUNTY WOOD BURNING CONVERSION PROGRAM: UPHES BURN SMART SUMMIT COUNTY EPA GRANT WORKS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ON THE HEALTH DANGERS OF WOOD SMOKE TO OUR HEALTH AND REDUCE EXPOSURE TO WOOD SMOKE POLLUTION BY HELPING LOW AND MODERATE-INCOME RESIDENTS OBTAIN SOURCES OF HEAT CLEANER AND HEALTHIER THAN WOOD-BURNING STOVES AND FIREPLACES.
INLAND PORT: UPHE WORKS WITH STATE LEADERS AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO ENGAGE AND MAKE THE PUBLIC AWARE OF THE POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS THAT THE UTAH INLAND PORT WILL BRING WITH IT IF ITS BUILT WITHOUT ANY ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS.
