THE SOUTHERN RIO GRANDE DIVERSIFIED CROP FARMERS ASSOCIATION (SRGDCFA) REPRESENTED MEMBERS CONCERNING WATER RIGHTS ISSUE 101 BEFORE THE THIRD JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT OF NEW MEXICO. THE INITIAL COURT SETTLEMENT REACHED IN 2011 HAS PROVIDED FOR 4.5 ACRE FEET OF ADJUDICATED WATER RIGHTS (SURFACE AND GROUND) FOR ALL FARM LAND OWNERS IN THE SOUTHERN RIO GRANDE AREA OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO. IN ADDITION, A PROVISION WAS ALSO ADDED BY THE COURT TO ALLOW ALL FARMERS TO PROVE UP TO 5.5 ACRE FEET OF WATER IF THEY HAD EVIDENCE SHOWING A USE GREATER THAN, OR EQUAL TO, THAT AMOUNT. THE SRGDCFA HAS CONDUCTED NUMEROUS HYDROLOGY STUDIES TO SUPPORT WATER RIGHT CLAIMS OF FARMER MEMBERS.
