THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS FACILITATES COOPERATION AMONG TEACHERS AND RESEARCH SCHOLARS IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES, AND IN PROFESSIONAL SCHOOLS OF SIMILAR GRADE, FOR THE PROMOTION OF THE INTERESTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH, AND IN GENERAL TO INCREASE THE USEFULNESS AND ADVANCE THE STANDARDS, IDEALS AND WELFARE OF THE PROFESSION.

POLICY AND LEGAL ADVOCACYTHE POLICY AND LEGAL ADVOCACY PROGRAM PROMOTES PRINCIPLES OF ACADEMIC FREEDOM, SHARED GOVERNANCE AND DUE PROCESS IN HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF POLICY DOCUMENTS AND REPORTS; AND APPLICATION OF THESE PRINCIPLES TO PARTICULAR SITUATIONS, IN THE FORM OF CASEWORK AND INVESTIGATIONS.
