Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

GREENWOOD'S GOAL IS TO PRESERVE, RESTORE, AND ENHANCE ITS HISTORIC GARDENS, ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPE FOR THE EDUCATION AND ENJOYMENT OF THE PUBLIC. SINCE 2013, THOUSANDS OF VISITORS HAVE COME THROUGH OUR GATES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SITE'S UNIQUE FEATURES AND TO LEARN ABOUT THE TWO FAMILIES THAT MADE AN IMPACT ON THE SITE OVER THE COURSE OF A CENTURY. IN 2019-2020, WE MADE EXTENSIVE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SITE INCLUDING A COMPLETE RENOVATION OF THE MAIN AXIS WITH TWO WORKING FOUNTAINS AND RESTORED HISTORIC VIEWS, ADDED A 50-SPACE PARKING LOT, A RAIN GARDEN AND TICKET KIOSK, RENOVATED VIRTUALLY ALL THE SITE'S LANDSCAPING, AND INCREASED SEATING THROUGHOUT THE GARDEN. THESE HAVE GREATLY ENHANCED THE VISITOR EXPERIENCE, BOTH DURING AND SINCE THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC.

IN 2022, THE ORGANIZATION WELCOMED 8,200 VISITORS, AND DELIVERED 46 PROGRAMS (MUSIC IN THE GARDEN CONCERT SERIES, LECTURES, AND A WIDE RANGE OF GARDEN TOURS FEATURING PLANTS, HISTORY, BEEKEEPING, NATURE JOURNALING, PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHY, TAI CHI, & TREE IDENTIFICATION). VISITORS INDICATED THAT THEY WERE ENCHANTED BY THE BEAUTY OF THE SITE & THE FRIENDLINESS OF OUR STAFF. GREENWOOD WAS VOTED "PRETTIEST GARDEN IN NEW JERSEY" BY NJ FAMILY MAGAZINE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT LOSS IN 2022 WITH THE UNEXPECTED DEATH OF OUR FOUNDING CHAIRMAN, PETER P. BLANCHARD III. WE HELD A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR HIM WHICH WAS ATTENDED BY OVER 120 FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS. WHILE WE CONTINUE TO MOURN HIS PASSING, WE CONTINUE TO CARRY OUT HIS WISHES FOR CREATING A WELCOMING SITE FOR ALL TO ENJOY.
