PRESERVATION ACTION COUNCIL OF SAN JOSE (PAC*SJ) IS DEDICATED TO PRESERVING SAN JOSE'S ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE THROUGH EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, AND EVENTS. SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN 1990 PAC*SJ HAS FOCUSED ON MAKING OUR COMMUNITY A BETTER PLACE BY PRESERVING ITS HISTORY SO THAT CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS CAN LEARN FROM THE PAST. WE EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY AND RAISE FUNDS THROUGH A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS AND EVENTS: GARAGE SALE -- WE HOLD GARAGE AND SALVAGE SALES DURING THE YEAR THAT SERVES AS FUNDRAISING EVENTS BUT ALSO PROVIDE VOLUNTEER AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS AND THE PUBLIC. VOLUNTEERS OPERATE THE SALE. ALL ITEMS ARE DONATED FROM NEIGHBORS AND MEMBERS AND SOLD IN AN HISTORIC RESIDENTIAL AREA. SALES ARE OPEN FROM 9AM-TO-DUSK WITH FOOD AND MUSIC. REVENUE: $ 55,413/EXPENSES: $1,152. ESTATE SALES - WE HAVE OCCASIONALLY CONDUCTED ESTATE SALES. ITEMS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE SALE WHERE AN EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEER SALES TEAM SORTED AND PRICED ITEMS. SHOPPERS ARE ALSO OFFERED INFORMATION ABOUT PAC*SJ. FAIRS AND FESTIVALS: WE PARTICIPATE IN SEVERAL FAIRS, FESTIVALS AND PARADES EACH YEAR INCLUDING THE PORTUGUESE FESTIVAL AND THE SPIRIT OF '45" COMMEMORATION AT HISTORY PARK. THESE ARE OPPORTUNITIES TO PROMOTE LOCAL PRESERVATION TO A WIDER AUDIENCE AND THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR HISTORIC HERITAGE. REVENUE: THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO PRODUCE REVENUE BUT TO PROMOTE THE ORGANIZATION TO A BROADER AUDIENCE. WALKING TOURS: WE ALSO PRODUCE SEVERAL WALKING TOURS EACH YEAR. TOURS HAVE BEEN HELD IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOODS WITH 20 GUESTS PER TOUR LED BY A KNOWLEDGEABLE BOARD MEMBER. LOCATIONS HAVE INCLUDED JAPANTOWN, ALVISO, AND THE HENSLEY HISTORIC DISTRICT. TOURS ARE PLANNED FOR NEW ALMADEN, DOWNTOWN SAN JOSE, AND WILLOW GLEN. THE TOURS HAVE FOCUSED ON SAN JOSE'S HISTORIC DISTRICTS AS WELL AS OTHER HISTORIC AREAS OF THE CITY: REVENUE: $1,715/EXPENSES: $5,451. CELEBRATION AND HOME TOUR: ONE OF OUR LARGEST SEMIANNUAL EVENTS IS THE CELEBRATION AND HOMES TOUR. THIS EVENT HIGHLIGHTED OUTSTANDING EXAMPLES OF HOMES IN SAN JOSE. GUESTS BOUGHT TICKETS TO THE EVENT FROM ALL OVER THE BAY AREA. FOR 2021 DUE TO COVID THERE WERE NO TOURS: REVENUE: $0 / EXPENSE: $0. VARIOUS OTHER EVENTS: REVENUE $655 EXPENSES $342. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES AN ON-LINE STORE AND A PHYSICAL STORE SELLING PINS, RECLAIMED GOODS, STICKERS, PATCHES, SHIRTS, AND BOOKS THAT PROMOTE THE ORGANIZATION'S EXEMPT PURPOSE: REVENUE $98,182 EXPENSE $37,130.
