Describe the Organization's Mission:
Part 3 - Line 1
COASTAL HOUSING PARTNERSHIP WAS CREATED IN 1987 BY A GROUP OF LOCAL SOUTH COAST EMPLOYERS WHO FOUND IT INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN TALENT DUE TO THE HIGH COST OF HOUSING IN OUR COMMUNITY. THEY PARTNERED WITH A NETWORK OF LOCAL REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONALS WHO OFFER SAVINGS ON THEIR SERVICES TO EMPLOYEES OF COASTAL HOUSING MEMBER COMPANIES. OVER THE PAST 34 YEARS, WEVE EXPANDED OUR HOUSING BENEFITS TO INCLUDE SAVINGS ON HOME PURCHASES, MORTGAGE REFINANCES AND SELECTED APARTMENT RENTALS. OUR NEWLY-LAUNCHED RENTAL SEARCH SITE LISTS RENTAL OPPORTUNITIES IN SANTA BARBARA & VENTURA COUNTIES. WE ALSO PROVIDE EMPLOYEES WITH HOME BUYING EDUCATION SEMINARS, HOME BUYING FAIR NETWORKING EVENTS, AND ONLINE RESOURCES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3 - Line 4a
PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TO LOCAL EMPLOYEES TO ASSIST THEM IN ACHIEVING HOME OWNERSHIP. ADDITIONALLY, A RENTAL SEARCH SITE WAS DEVELOPED TO PROVIDE MEMBER EMPLOYEES WITH ACCESS TO INFORMATION ABOUT RESIDENTIAL VACANCIES IN THE LOCAL RENTAL MARKET. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS CONSISTS OF REPRESENTATIVES FROM LOCAL MAJOR EMPLOYERS, COMMUNITY GROUPS, AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES. THE ORGANIZATION IS FUNDED THROUGH CONTRIBUTIONS FROM PARTICIPATING EMPLOYERS.
TWO HOME BUYING FAIRS, WHICH WERE SCHEDULED FOR APRIL AND SEPTEMBER, WERE CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS. THESE FAIRS WERE STARTED TO PROVIDE EDUCATION TO BOTH MEMBERS AND NON MEMBERS ABOUT HOME BUYING OPPORTUNITIES IN SANTA BARBARA COUNTY. CLASSES ARE OFFERED ON THE TOPICS OF GOOD CREDIT, DOWN PAYMENTS, BUDGETING, OBTAINING HOME LOANS, AND AFFORDABILITY OF A HOME PURCHASE.
