Part 3
THE COLLINS FOUNDATION PROVIDED SPACE FOR THE SAN JOSE PEACE & JUSTICE CENTER, HOSTING APPROXIMATELY A DOZEN COMMUNITY EVENTS AND MEETINGS PER MONTH WITH AN AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF 10 PEOPLE. IT ALSO SERVED THE STUDENT COMMUNITY WITH VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. APPROXIMATELY 40 IMMIGRANTS EVERY WEEK WERE EDUCATED AT "KNOW YOUR RIGHTS" SESSIONS. THE MAY DAY PROGRAM ORGANIZED ONE THOUSAND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN A MARCH AND RALLY FOR WORKER AND IMMIGRANT RIGHTS. THE WAGE THEFT PROGRAM SUPPORTED THE COALITION THAT ASSISTS WORKERS WHO ARE RECEIVING LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE, NOT BEING PAID OVERTIME, AND OTHER VIOLATIONS OF LABOR LAW.
