OFFICERS WERE TRAINED TO EVALUATE INDENTIFY AND DE-ESCALATE CRISIS SITUATIONS INVOLING INDIVIDUALS IN CRIS THIS INCLUDES MENTAL HEALTH DRUG ALCOHOL AND MILITTARY REINTEGRATION ISSUES THROUGH THE USE OF CLASSROOM PARTICIPATION AND ROLE PLAYING WITH PROFESSIONAL ACTORS. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE TRAINING IS TO MINIMIZE USE OF FORCE AND SEEK ALTERNATIVES TO INCARCERATION BY TRAINING OFFICERS AND FIRST RESPONDERS TO COMUNICATE WITH INDIVIDUALS IN CRISIS AND RESOLVE THE SITUATION THROUGH THE USE OF LOCAL RESOURCES AND TO CREATE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS WITH MENTAL PROFESSIONLA AND THE COURTS.
