SCI CONTINUED TO IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAMS TO BUILD SOCIAL CAPITAL IN MASSACHUSETTS COMMUNITIES. FROM DEVELOPING A PROGRAM TO ENSURE EQUITY IN VACCINE ACCESS, TO GIVING YOUTH THE OPPORTUNITY TO PUT THEIR IDEAS INTO ACTION, SCI RESPONDED TO WHAT OUR COMMUNITIES NEED. SCI AMERICORPS MEMBERS SERVED OVER 30,000 HOURS, CONNECTING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THE RELATIONSHIPS, EXPERIENCES, AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO SUCCEED. 24 FULL-TIME SCI AMERICORPS MEMBERS COORDINATED YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS, PLANNED COMMUNITY EVENTS, AND MANAGED ONLINE COMMUNITY OUTREACH TOOLS. SCI AMERICORPS MEMBERS MOBILIZED 1755 VOLUNTEERS THAT SERVED A TOTAL OF OVER 3,000 HOURS. SCI STAFF AND SCI AMERICORPS MEMBERS PILOTED THE FIRST SCI YOUTH GRANT PITCH CONTEST WHICH PROVIDED COACHING AND FUNDING TO 35 TEENS WHO DEVELOPED PROJECTS ADDRESSING MENTAL HEALTH. THE SCI VACCINE EQUITY & ACCESS PROGRAM (VEAP) WAS INTRODUCED TO INCREASE VACCINATIONS IN COMMUNITIES HARD HIT BY COVID-19 AND TRAINED VEAP AMBASSADORS WHO EACH REACHED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN THEIR NETWORKS. SCI'S VEAP IS TRAINING GRASSROOTS COMMUNITY LEADERS TO SERVE AS AMBASSADORS TO ENGAGE IN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT VACCINATION WITHIN THEIR SOCIAL NETWORKS.
