TO CONSERVE BIODIVERSITY ECOSYSTEM FUNCTIONS AND LOCAL CULTURAL IDENTITIES THROUGH PARTICIPATORY SOLUTIONS THAT PROTECT AND PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES SUPPORT THE SOCIOECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES HELP MITIGATE THE EFFECT OF DEFORESTATION AND FOREST DEGRADATION AND ENABLE ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE. WE CURRENTLY WORK IN SOUTHEAST ASIA.

PROGRAM: SPECIES RESEARCH AND CONSERVATION--THROUGH THIS PROGRAM THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTED RESEARCH INTO BIODIVERSITY VALUES AT TARGET LOCATIONS AND ADVANCED MEASURES TO HELP CONSERVE CONTAINED VALUES SUCH AS ENDANGERED SPECIES AND THEIR SUSTAINING HABITATS. THIS PROGRAM ALSO SUPPORTED THE STRENGTHENING OF CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN SEVERAL TARGET LOCATIONS WHERE THE ORGANIZATION CARRIES OUT ITS PROGRAMS MAINLY IN INDONESIA THAILAND AND VIETNAM. SEVERAL SMALL-LEVEL ACTIVITIES ALSO TAKE PLACE IN MYANMAR AND CAMBODIA. A WINDOW OF ACTIVITIES IS UNDER DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA INDIA AND BANGLADESH. NO PERSONS DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS PROGRAM.


PROGRAM: CO-MANAGEMENT AND COLLABORATIVE MANAGEMENT FOR CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT-THROUGH THIS PROGRAM THE ORGANIZATION HELPS STRENGTHEN MEASURES FOR LOCAL COMMUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES THAT FURTHER SUSTAINABLE USE AND MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. A PARTICULAR ASPECT OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO IMPROVE THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES FOR THE CONSERVATION OF HIGH CONSERVATION VALUE FORESTS AND THREATENED SPECIES AND THEIR SUSTAINING HABITATS WHERE LOCAL STAKEHOLDER VILLAGERS CONTINUE TO LEGALLY ACCESS RESOURCES TO SECURE LIVELIHOOD NEEDS. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES WORK RELATED TO SOCIAL FORESTRY WITHIN CONSERVATION LANDSCAPES. PEOPLE FROM SEVERAL REMOTE AND DEPRIVED VILLAGES IN INDONESIA CAMBODIA MYANMAR AND VIETNAM. THEY BENEFIT FROM THIS PROGRAM THROUGH IMPROVED ACCESS TO TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES TRAINING AND BUILDING CAPACITIES FOR SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE USE MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNANCE.


PROGRAM: CONSERVATION MANAGEMENT--THROUGH THIS PROGRAM THE ORGANIZATION HELPS STRENGTHEN BIODIVERSITY CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF PROTECTED AREAS KEY BIODIVERSITY AREAS AND HIGH CONSERVATION VALUE FORESTS AT TARGET LOCATIONS IN THE COUNTRIES OF OPERATION. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES WITHIN THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE STRENGTHENING THE CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT CAPACITIES OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AWARENESS FOR HABITAT AND SPECIES CONSERVATION IN GREATER PROTECTED AREA LANDSCAPES AND WORKING WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND LOCAL CIVIL SOCIETY TO FURTHER THE CONSERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND BIODIVERSITY VALUES. NO PERSONS DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS PROGRAM.
