HISTORIC MESQUITE, INC. IS A NONPROFIT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF AND EDUCATION ABOUT MESQUITE HISTORY. THE MESQUITE VETERANS MEMORIAL EFFORT WILL BE UTILIZING THE NONPROFIT STATUS OF HMI TO ACCEPT, DOCUMENT AND PROPERLY PROCESS ALL DONATIONS. THE MEMORIAL WILL HONOR MILITARY VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES FROM THE MESQUITE COMMUNITY.HISTORIC MESQUITE, INC. ALSO WORKS TO PRESERVE, MAINTAIN AND RESTORE SEVERAL PROPERTIES IN MESQUITE, TEXAS, SUCH AS THE FLORENCE HOMESTEAD AND THE S. D. LAWRENCE HOUSE AT OPAL LAWRENCE HISTORICAL PARK. OTHER PROJECTS INCLUDE RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS ON HISTORICAL PRESERVATION ISSUES, PROVIDING AN EDUCATIONAL SPEAKERS BUREAU, WRITING HISTORICAL MARKER APPLICATIONS, AND INVOLVEMENT WITH STATE AND NATIONAL PRESERVATION INSTITUTIONS.
