FOUNDED IN 1979, THE ORGANIZATION (F.G.M.) SUPPORTS THE TEXAS GOVERNOR'S MANSION, A NATIONAL HISTORICAL LANDMARK AND THE FOURTH OLDEST CONTINUOUSLY OCCUPIED GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE IN THE U.S. F.G.M. MAINTAINS AND CURATES HISTORICAL MANSION FURNISHINGS AND ARTIFACTS OWNED BY THE STATE IN ITS GOVERNOR'S MANSION COLLECTION. F.G.M. PROVIDES COLLECTION MANAGEMENT AND CURATORIAL SERVICES FOR THE ENTIRE COLLECTION OF MORE THAN 1,000 OBJECTS.


AN IMPORTANT GOAL IS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE MANSION, ITS OBJECTS, CONTENTS, AND HISTORY BY PROVIDING PUBLICATIONS, A WEBSITE, DOCENTS, AND STUDENT PROGRAMS. PROGRAMS INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS, HOLIDAY AND FLORAL DECORATIONS IN THE MANSION, AND COLLECTION ACQUISITIONS.VOLUNTEER HOURS FOR EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS AND HOLIDAY DECORATIONS = 913 HOURS


F.G.M. ENHANCES THE GROUNDS OF THE MANSION BY PROVIDING PRIVATE FUNDS FOR SEASONAL PLANTINGS AND IMPROVEMENTS. F.G.M. RAISES PRIVATE FUNDS THAT HELP PRESERVE THE HISTORIC CHARACTER OF THE SITE.
