TO EASE AND HEAL THE EMOTIONAL TRAUMA OF THE VICTIM AND THE FAMILY GUIDE THE VICTIM THROUGH THE MAZE OF THE MEDICAL AND LEGAL SYSTEMS, PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR MAKING INFORMED DECISIONS AND ADVOCATE FOR VICTIM.

THE MIDLAND RAPE CRISIS AND CHILDRENS ADVOCACY CENTER PROVIDES CRISIS INTERVENTION, HOSPITAL ACCOMPANIMENT, FORENSIC INTERVIEWS, CLIENT ADVOCACY SERVICES, JUDICIAL ACCOMPANIMENT, AND THERAPY TO ALL CHILDREN, ADULTS AND NON-OFFENDING FAMILY MEMBERS WHO REPORT SEXUAL ABUSE/ASSAULT, SEVERE PHYSICAL ABUSE, OR ARE WITNESSES TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE OR HOMICIDE. OUR RAPE CRISIS PROGRAM OFFERS VICTIMS A CONNECTION TO SERVICES 24-HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK, AND 365 DAYS A YEAR. THE HOTLINE PROVIDES IMMEDIATE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FOR VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AND THEIR FAMILIES. VOLUNTEERS ARE TRAINED TO ACCOMPANY VICTIMS TO THE HOSPITAL FOR SANE EXAMS.
OUR THERAPY PROGRAM INCLUDES A THERAPY DIRECTOR WHO PROVIDES FULL- TIME THERAPY AND OTHER FULL-TIME THERAPISTS. SERVICES INCLUDE TELETHERAPY. THE THERAPISTS AND CLIENTS DEVELOP TREATMENT GOALS AND MAY UTILIZE A VARIETY OF THERAPY APPROACHES TO MEET INDIVIDUAL NEEDS AND TO PROMOTE HEALTH AND HEALING. WE CONTINUE THE THRIVE SUPPORT GROUP FOR ADULT VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE/ASSAULT AND HAVE A THERAPIST LED SUPPORT GROUP FOR MALE ADULT SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS.
EDUCATION OF OUR COMMUNITY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THE GOALS OF THE CENTER. TWO FULL-TIME STAFF ARE EMPLOYED BY THE CENTER TO PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO THE COMMUNITY. THE EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES A VARIETY OF PRESENTATIONS TO SCHOOLS AND PROFESSIONALS. THE PRESENTATIONS INCLUDE BEING SAFE FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 6TH GRADE STUDENTS. MRCCAC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT CURRENTLY PRESENTS INTERNET SAFETY TO CHILDREN AND PARENTS. OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM PROVIDES PRESENTATIONS TO TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN MIDLAND, MARTIN, HOWARD, AND ANDREWS COUNTY. OUR AGENCY HOSTS THE SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM FOR ADULTS IN MIDLAND COUNTY INCLUDING MIDLAND COLLEGE. THIS TEAM ANALYZES OUR COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO SEXUAL ASSAULT. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR IMPROVEMENTS.
