INCOME FROM DONATIONS ARE PRIMARILY USED TO CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN THE ADELPHI COMMUNITY. THESE ARE NOT INCLUDED HERE. THE LOW INCOME RENTS AND THE USE OF COPYING AND PRINTING FACILITIES MAKE UP THE REVENUE. THE UPKEEP OF THESE FACILITIES, PROPERTY TAXES AND DEPRECIATION MAKE UP THE EXPENSES. THIS YEAR WE PAID PROPERTY TAXES TWICE - IN JANUARY FOR 2021 AND IN NOVEMBER FOR 2022. THIS ACCOUNTS FOR THE HIGHER EXPENSES.
EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS ARE PRODUCED AND DISTRIBUTED TO MEMBERS AND TO THE PUBLIC. THESE INCLUDE ARTICLES ON OUR WEBSITE AND IN OUR NEWSLETTER. THESE MATERIALS FURTHER RELIGIOUS EDUCATION. OUR BOOKS AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS ARE EDUCATIONAL AS WELL. IN PART VIII PUBLICATION SALES AND EXPENSES ARE SHOWN SEPARATELY FROM PROGRAM SERVICE REVENUES AND EXPENSES. SO THESE ARE NOT INCLUDED IN PART IX AND ARE IN A SEPARATE CATEGORY IN PART I. THESE PUBLICATION AMOUNTS ARE THEREFORE NO INCLUDED HERE.
WE OFFER PHILOSOPHY SEMINARS, PUBLIC QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSIONS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS. SOME SUPPLIES ARE USED FOR THESE MEETINGS AND CLASSES AND NEW MEMBER ORIENTATIONS. THE SUPPLIES AND ROOMS USED FACILITATE OUR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION MISSION. WE ALSO ANSWER PHILOSOPHY QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC BY PHONE, EMAIL AND THROUGH THE MAIL. THESE EXPENSES ARE INCLUDED HERE. THE MEMBERS VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND ENERGY TO HELP PROVIDE THESE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR EACH OTHER AND FOR THE PUBLIC.
