MINORITY FELLOWSHIP GRANTS: FUNDED BY GRANTS FROM THE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (SAMHSA), THE AAMFT MINORITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS SUPPORT THE TRAINING OF PRACTIONERS OR PRACTIONER/RESEARCHERS IN CULTURALLY COMPETENT MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES, TREATMENT AND PREVENTION. THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS ARE OPEN TO MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY DOCTORAL AND MASTERS STUDENTS WHO ARE COMMITTED TO RESEARCH ABOUT AND SERVICE TO ETHNIC MINORITY AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS.

APPLICANTS MUST DEMONSTRATE NEW AND OFTEN COUNTERINTUITIVE WAYS ABOUT HOW TO SOLVE THE MOST PRESSING PUBLIC CHALLENGES THAT AFFECT THEIR COMMUNITIES. THIS CHALLENGE BRINGS AWARENESS ABOUT MFT'S TO A LARGER AUDIENCE, AND PROVIDES MEMBERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE WITH THE FOUNDATION WHICH HOPEFULLY RAISES THE AWARENESS OF THE FOUNDATION. INTERFAITH PROJECT: THE FOUNDATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF HUMAN SYSTEMS IS WORKING WITH DR. DAMIR S. UTRAN, PHD, LMFT, AND DR. BENJAMIN ERWIN, PHD, TO HOST THE DEVELOPMENTAL IMPACT OF DISPLACEMENT-INDUCED TRAUMA WORKSHOP.
