SUPPORT, PRESERVE, PROMOTE, AND ENHANCE SANTA ANA AND LOWER RIO GRANDE VALLEY NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGES AND THEIR USE FOR RECREATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PURPOSES.

ACQUIRE LAND FOR CONSERVATION AND PLANT NATIVE TREES ON FORMER AGRICULTURAL LAND TO INCREASE THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE WILDLIFE CORRIDOR. LAND IS SOLD TO US FISH AND WILDLIFE AS PART OF THE WILDLIFE REFUGE COMPLEX.


PROMOTE AWARENESS OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT OF SANTA ANA WILDLIFE REFUGE THROUGH EMAIL, NEWSLETTERS, ALERTS, AND A WEBSITE. PROMOTION OUTREACH INCLUDES ATTENDANCE AT EVENTS SUCH AS THE COASTAL EXPO (EDINBURG, TEXAS), THE RGV BIRDING FESTIVAL (HARLINGEN, TEXAS) THE BUTTERFLY FESTIVAL (MISSION, TEXAS) AND THE LRGV LEARNING LANDSCAPES PROGRAM THAT ESTABLISHES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULA AND OUTDOOR LEARNING CLASSROOMS FOCUSED ON THE ECOSYSTEMS, FLORA, AND FAUNA OF THE REGION.


HELPS SUPPORT SANTA ANA WILDLIFE REGUGE EVENTS AND OUTREACH WITH FUNDS EARNED IN OUR ON-SITE NATURE STORE. FRIENDS STAFF ANSWERS QUESTIONS AND WHEN APPROPRIATE DIRECTS THE PUBLIC TO ON-SITE REFUGE EXPERTS.
