THE CENTRAL KANSAS CONSERVANCY (CKC) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT 501(C)3 CORPORATION AND IS TRUSTEE TO 45.6 MILES OF RAIL BANKED RAILROAD. THE CONSERVANCY WAS ORGANIZED IN 1997 WITH THE VISION TO BROADEN AND PROMOTE THESE RAIL-TRAILS.THE ORGANIZATION BUILT AND MAINTAINS MILES OF TRAIL (ON THE MEADOWLARK TRAIL) FROM MCPHERSON GOING NORTH TOWARDS LINDSBORG, INCLUDING BLADING THE RAIL BANK LEVEL AND SPREADING LIMESTONE SCREENING FOR A TRAIL SURFACE.CVC ALSO BUILDS AND MAINTAINS TRAIL FROM LINDSBORG GOING SOUTH TOWARD MCPHERSON. IN GALVA, CVC MAINTAINS THE SUNFLOWER SANTA FE TRAIL.ALONG WITH TRAIL BUILDING, CVC ALSO MAINTAINS THE COMPLETED SECTIONS OF TRAILS BY WEED SPRAYING, MOWING, AND OTHER MAINTENANCE, SUCH AS TRASH REMOVAL AND TRIMMING BACK TREES AS NECESSARY.
