EL BUEN SAMARITANO IS AN OUTREACH MINISTRY OF THE EPISCOPAL DIOCESE OF TEXAS COMMITTED TO RECOGNIZING THE DIGNITY OF ALL BY ENSURING ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE EDUCATION AND ESSENTIAL NEEDS THAT LEAD TO HEALTHY PRODUCTIVE AND SECURE LIVES.

SINCE ITS INCEPTION EL BUEN HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF RESPONDING TO THE MANY SOCIAL ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS LEADING TO LACK OF ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE SOCIAL SERVICES AND NUTRITION. OVER TIME EL BUEN HAS BEEN ADAPTED TO MEET THE COMMUNITIES NEEDS THAT COME WITH POPULATION GROWTH IMMIGRATION ECONOMIC FLUCTUATIONS AND THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. THIS ADAPTION HAS LED TO EL BUENS COMPREHENSIVE STRATEGY CENTER ON ADDRESSING THE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH UTILIZING AN ANTI OPPRESSIVE FRAMEWORK TO PROVIDE A ONE STOP SHOP ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF THE LATINO AND SPANISH SPEAKING COMMUNITY. EL BUEN PROVIDES EDUCATION WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT CHILD OR ADOLESCENT HEALTH LITERACY AND ACCESS TO HEALTH SERVICES A NO COST FOOD PANTRY AND A COMMUNITY GARDEN. IN RESPONSE TO THE PANDEMIC EL BUEN INITIATED ITS CASH AND RENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS.
