GRANTS AND AWARDS: $3,090 IN DUAL ENROLLMENT TUITION INCLUDING BOOKS AND SUPPLIES TO 3 STUDENTS, AND $7,250 IN COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS TO 3 STUDENTS.TEACHERS OF THE YEAR, TEACHERS FUND: 76 TEACHERS WERE AWARDED FOR THEIR HARD WORK AND OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE.SCHOOL NURSES: DVEF RECOGNIZED 52 OF OUR SCHOOL NURSES TO THANK THEM FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO OUR STUDENTS.BATTLE OF THE BOOKS: 164 TEAMS FROM 20 OF OUR SCHOOLS PARTICIPATED THIS YEAR. THATS ALMOST 500 STUDENTS. THANKS TO THIS PROGRAM, BOOKS ARE DONATED TO SCHOOL LIBRARIES, KIDS READ BOOKS FROM DIFFERENT GENRES, AND LEARN LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND HOW TO WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM. SHELTER AND FOOD: WE HAVE HAD AN OVER-WHELMING NEED FROM FAMILIES IN OUR DISTRICT WHO WERE DISPLACED FROM THEIR HOMES FOR DIFFERENT REASON, OR DID NOT HAVE FUNDS TO BUY FOOD FOR THEIR CHILDREN. DVEF WAS ABLE TO SUPPLY GIFT CARDS FOR FOOD, AND A COUPLE NIGHTS IN A MOTEL FOR FAMILIES WHO HAD NO WHERE TO GO. SOME WERE LIVING IN THEIR CARS.
