TO ADVANCE THE CAUSE OF MUSIC IN HIGHER EDUCATION GENERALLY AND TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND PROGRAM OF THE MUSIC EDUCATION SYSTEM IN TEXAS THROUGH THE PROMOTION OF COOPERATION AMONG ALL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES AND THROUGH THE EXERCISE OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP. THE ASSOCIATION IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL, AND SCIENTIFIC PURPOSES AND MAKING DISTRIBUTIONS THAT QUALIFY AS EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS.

THE ASSOCIATION'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE ANNUAL TAMS CONFERENCE IN JANUARY 2019 WITH VARIOUS TOPIC SESSIONS ASSOCIATED WITH MUSIC CURRICULUM AND PROGRAMS IN HIGHER EDUCATION. REPORTS WERE GIVEN, ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION IN REVIEW OF ITEMS OF CONCERN AT STATE, PRIVATE AND JUNIOR COLLEGES TO ULTIMATELY PROMOTE COOPERATION AMONG ALL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, TO PROPOSE CHANGES TO CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MUSIC PROGRAMS IN TEXAS. TAMS AWARDED 93 MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS TO FULL-TIME MUSIC MAJORS ATTENDING TAMS MEMBER COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. THESE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE ADMINISTERED BY TAMS AND FUNDED BY CLARA FRESHOUR NELSON FOUNDATION.
