HOLCOMBE HOUSEAT THE HOLCOMBE HOUSE, FAMILIES STAY IN A HOME-LIKE ENVIRONMENT NEAR THE TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITALS WHILE THEIR SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN ARE BEING TREATED AS INPATIENTS OR OUTPATIENTS. THE FREESTANDING HOLCOMBE HOUSE HAS SEVENTY BEDROOMS WITH PRIVATE BATHS, A LARGE COMMUNAL KITCHEN/DINING ROOM, LAUNDRY ROOM, PLAYROOM, AND TEEN GAME ROOM AND IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED ON THE CAMPUS OF THE TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER. COMPLIMENTARY SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. THE HOUSE ENCOURAGES CARING AND SHARING AMONG GUEST FAMILIES AND THEIR SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN. TWO BEDROOMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR OVERNIGHT SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN WHO ARE INPATIENTS AT MD ANDERSON CHILDREN'S CANCER HOSPITAL. PROGRAM ACTIVITIES IN 2022 RETURNED TO PRE-COVID-19 LEVELS.

THE HOUSE HAS A KITCHEN, DINING ROOM, LAUNDRY ROOM, LIBRARY/COMPUTER ROOM, AND QUIET ROOM FOR FAMILIES TO USE AT THEIR CONVENIENCE. THIS HOUSE, IN ADDITION TO OVERNIGHT STAYS, OFFERS DAILY USAGE OF COMMON AREAS FOR CAREGIVERS TO RELAX, FIND A BITE TO EAT, AND/OR TALK WITH VOLUNTEERS AND OTHER PARENTS. THIS HOUSE PROVIDES THE COMFORTS OF HOME WITHIN MINUTES OF THE CHILD'S TREATMENT AREA AND RELIEVES SOME OF THE STRESS OF SPENDING HOURS OR DAYS IN A STERILE WAITING ROOM ENVIRONMENT. RMH OPERATES A TOTAL OF TEN FAMILY ROOMS, LOUNGES, AND FAMILY KITCHENS IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT TCH.
