AID TO THE UNDERPRIVILEGED IN CALDWELL COUNTY, TEXAS THROUGH THE OPERATION OF A FOOD PANTRY, HOPE FOR THE ELDERLY, COMMUNITY GARDEN, COMMUNITY MEALS, BACKPACKS FOR SCHOOL KIDS AND MOBILE MARKETS.

THE FOOD BANK PROVIDES 100 LB GROCERY BASKETS TO ABOUT 1600 HOUSEHOLDS AND OVER3500 INDIVIDUALS UP TO TWICE A MONTH. ELIGIBILITY FOR THIS PROGRAM FALLS UNDERTHE USDA GUIDELINES. BASKETS CONTAIN A MIX OF FROZEN PROTEIN, DAIRY, PRODUCE,AND SHELF STABLE ITEMS. CLIENT BASKETS ALSO CONTAIN ORGANIC PRODUCE FROM THEFOOD BANK GARDEN. THE GARDEN PRODUCES 2-4K POUNDS ANNUALLY. DURING THE 3RD AND4TH WEEKS OF EACH MONTH, CLIENTS 55 AND OVER CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF OUR HEALTHYOPTIONS PROGRAM FOR THE ELDERLY (HOPE). HOPE BAGS CONTAIN 8-12 SHELF STABLEITEMS AND ARE DISTRIBUTED PER PERSON.


IN AN EFFORT TO EXPAND OUR REACH, THE FOOD BANK CREATED THE COMMUNITY MEALSPROGRAM IN 2021. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCAL CHURCHES WE PROVIDE 3 COMMUNITYMEALS PER WEEK. EACH LOCATION SERVES 150-200 INDIVIDUALS PER MEAL RESULTING IN500-600 HOT MEALS TO THE COMMUNITY EACH WEEK.


THE FOOD BANK IS THE LARGEST RESOURCE IN CALDWELL COUNTY. THROUGH OUR BACKPACKPROGRAM, WE SERVE 500 STUDENTS MONTHLY WITH BACKPACKS THAT CONTAIN SNACK ITEMSAND HEAT AND EAT MEALS. EACH BAG ALSO CONTAINS A VOUCHER FOR THE STUDENT'SFAMILY TO RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL GROCERY BASKET AT THE FOOD BANK. THIS PROGRAMIS AVAILABLE AT ALL 11 SCHOOLS IN OUR COUNTY. THROUGH OUR MOBILE MARKETS WESERVE 100-150 HOUSEHOLDS AT 2 LOCATIONS MONTHLY. THE MARKETS ARE PART OF OUROUTREACH EFFORTS TO REACH SMALLER COMMUNITIES IN OUR COUNTY.
