FOR MORE THAN 55 YEARS, TSPRA HAS OFFERED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, COLLEGIAL NETWORKING AND VENDOR EXPLORATION OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES AT THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OFFERS NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED SPEAKERS AND RELEVANT CONCURRENT SESSIONS, COVERING SUCH TOPICS AS AP STYLE WRITING, DESIGN FOR PRINT AND WEB, VIDEOGRAPHY/PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS, TRANSLATION MACHINES, BOND ELECTIONS AND TRES, SOCIAL MEDIA BEST PRACTICES, CRISIS COMMUNICATION, MARKETING STRATEGIES, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, LEGAL ISSUES, ELECTRONIC MEDIA PRODUCTION, ISSUES PERTAINING TO EDUCATION FOUNDATIONS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMS.
WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING - THE ASSOCIATION HAS CONTRACTED WITH THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED SPOKEN WORD TO PROVIDE MEDIA/CRISIS TRAINING TO SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AT AN AFFORDABLE FEE. THE ASSOCIATION HAS TRAINED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGARDING MEDIA, CRISIS SITUATIONS, PUBLIC MEETINGS, AND EFFECTIVE PRESENTATIONS. THE ASSOCIATION ALSO OFFERS LEGAL WORKSHOPS GEARED TO SCHOOL PUBLIC RELATIONS PROFESSIONALS, AND TRAINING IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. LEGAL TRAINING BY LEADING TEXAS SCHOOL ATTORNEYS.
CONTEST & AWARDS - THE ANNUAL STAR AWARDS IS THE ASSOCIATION'S COMMUNICATION CONTEST PROVIDING RECOGNITION FOR THE OUTSTANDING EDUCATION COMMUNICATIONS AND PROJECTS OF OUR MEMBERS. INDEPENDENT JUDGES EVALUATE APPROXIMATELY 1,000 ENTRIES EACH YEAR AND AWARD SILVER AND GOLD STAR AWARDS, BEST OF CATEGORY, CRYSTAL COMMENDATIONS, AND THE PLATINUM AWARD FOR AN ALL ENCOMPASSING YEAR-LONG PROJECT. THE CONTEST PROMOTES THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL PUBLIC RELATIONS PROFESSION AND PROVIDES FEEDBACK OF ORIGINAL WORK AND DESIGNS BY PROFESSIONAL EXPERTS IN THE PRIVATE PUBLIC SECTORS.
