THE ARC OF TEXAS IS THE OLDEST AND LARGEST NONPROFIT, VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION IN THE STATE OF TEXAS COMMITTED TO CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO BE INCLUDED IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AND TO MAKE CHOICES WHICH AFFECT THEIR LIVES.

THE ARC OF TEXAS MASTER POOLED TRUST PROVIDES FINANCIAL SECURITY TO ALL PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE WHILE PROVIDING RESOURCES FOR THEIR ONGOING SUPPLEMENTAL NEEDS. THE ARC OF TEXAS OFFERS TRUST BENEFICIARIES AND THEIR FAMILIES FREE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES, TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, SPECIAL EDUCATION CONSULTATION, AND LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION.
THE ARC OF TEXAS PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING TRAINING PROGRAMS: PARTNERS IN DISABILITY LEADERSHIP - A PROGRAM FOR PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN THE DISABILITY FIELD IN TEXAS. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE INTERESTED IN BEING STEWARDS OF THE DISABILITY RIGHTS MOVEMENT AND LEADERS WITHIN THEIR AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS. THE CLASS MET FOR SIX MONTHS TO LEARN FROM DISTINGUISHED DISABILITY-RIGHTS ADVOCATES AND EXPERTS. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ALSO WORKED ON A LEADERSHIP PROJECT SPECIFIC TO THEIR PROFESSIONAL GOALS OR WITHIN THEIR ORGANIZATIONS OR AGENCIES.
WHOLE PERSON PROJECT - THIS PROGRAM TRAINS HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS WHO WORK IN IDD OR MENTAL HEALTH TO DEVELOP ADVANCED SKILLS TO SUPPORT TEXANS WITH IDD AND CONCURRENTLY EXPERIENCE A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION. THE WHOLE PERSON PROJECT USES EVIDENCE-BASED, LONG-TERM TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. THE INAUGURAL PROGRAM LAUNCHED FALL 2020.ACCESS JUSTICE - THIS EVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAM PROVIDES TRAINING FOR LOCAL AND STATEWIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS INCLUDING POLICE OFFICERS, SHERIFFS' DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL, STATE HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICERS, JAIL AND PRISON OFFICERS, VICTIM-ADVOCATE STAFF, AND LEGAL STAFF TO TEACH THEM HOW TO APPROPRIATELY RESPOND TO AND RESPECTFULLY SERVE TEXANS WITH IDD WHO MAY BE VICTIMS OR SUSPECTED PERPETRATORS OF CRIME.
THE ARC OF TEXAS PARTNERS WITH A HOUSEHOLD RECYCLING VENDOR AND RECEIVES A PORTION OF THE PROCEEDS FROM DROP BOX COLLECTIONS OF DONATED CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS THAT ARE SOLD TO AN UNRELATED THIRD PARTY.
