WAIVER-A PROGRAM OF INTERGRATED SUPPORT WHICH REFERS TO THE BATTERY OF SERVICES PROVIDED TO THE INDIVIDUAL CONSUMER THROUGH THE MEDICAID WAIVER PROGRAM. THIS USUALLY MEANS HIRING AN IMPLEMENTER, OR ONE-ON-ONE WORKER, WHO WILL PROVIDE DIRECT CARE AND ASSIST THE CONSUMER TO MEET THEIR ANNUAL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES. THEY MAY TEACH THE CONSUMER TO BUDGET HIS/HER MONEY, TO SHOP, TO DO LAUNDRY, TO COOK, TO DO HOUSEHOLD MAINTENANCE TASKS, OR WHATEVER THE CONSUMER REQUIRES. THEY OFTEN ASSIST THE CONSUMER TO PARTICIPATE IN FUN ACTIVITIES LIKE BASKETBALL, BOWLING, COMMUNITY EVENTS, ETC.

THE PROGRAM'S TEACHING STAFF, BOTH PROFESSIONAL AND PARAPROFESSIONAL, IS TRAINED TO FACILITATE THE PROGRESS OF CHILDREN WITH LANGUAGE DELAYS BY SPECIFICALLY ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS. THE CLASSROOM ALSO PROVIDES SPEECH, PHYSICAL AND OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIES, AND RECEIVES CONSULTATIVE ASSISTANCE FROM VARIOUS AGENCIES.
