ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TULSA IS DEDICATED TO CLOTHING STUDENTS IN NEED AND MEETING THE ESSENTIAL NEEDS OF THE MOST VULNERABLE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

OPERATION SCHOOL BELL (OSB) PROVIDES NEW SCHOOL CLOTHING AND OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO TULSA AREA STUDENTS IN GRADES PRE-K-12. ONSITE SERVED 1,829 TPS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS BY PROVIDING CLOTHING AND RELATED ITEMS. THE OFFSITE PROGRAM SERVED 1,574 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS FROM 12 OUTLYING SCHOOL DISTRICTS AT AREA WALMART STORES. TPS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS RECEIVED 2 UNIFORM SHIRTS AND 24,519 SHIRTS WERE DELIVERED TO 39 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. PERSONAL CARE AND CLOTHES CLOSETS MET THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF STUDENTS AT 101 SCHOOL SITES THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDED AN ONLINE STORE, HI AND DRY BAGS, STOCK OUR SCHOOLS (SOS) AND SOS SURPLUS SO THAT ITEMS WERE ON HAND TO SERVE STUDENTS AS THEIR NEEDS AROSE. THE ASSISTANCE LEAGUE TULSA SCHOLAR AWARDS IS AN EDUCATION PROGRAM PAYING $38,755 IN COURSE FEES FOR 227 TPS STUDENTS CONCURRENTLY ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE COURSEWORK.
ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TULSA RECEIVED FUNDS FROM THE EMMA R. SHOWMAN TRUST TO ENDOW THE BETTY BRADSTREET ASSISTANCE FUND IN 2002. THE ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE HAS DETERMINED THAT THE INTEREST AND DIVIDENDS GENERATED FROM THE PRINCIPAL WOULD BE AWARDED EACH YEAR TO LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE ARTS. AWARDS TOTALING $72,647 WERE GIVEN TO 49 AREA TEACHERS FROM 10 SCHOOL DISTRICTS IMPACTING 13,866 STUDENTS TO ENRICH FINE ARTS IN OUR SCHOOLS.
MEMBERS SUPPORTED LITERACY PROGRAMS BY PROVIDING BOOKS TO GAINING GROUND AND ITS BOOK VAN AND CRIME PREVENTION NETWORK'S BOOK NOOKS. ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TULSA SPONSORED THE ANNUAL MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR PARADE AND PROVIDED UNDERWEAR, T-SHIRTS AND SOCKS TO THE TULSA DAY CENTER.
