OPERATION SCHOOL BELL (OSB)PROVIDES NEW SCHOOL CLOTHING AND OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS TO AREA STUDENTS IN GRADES PREK-12. ON-SITE SERVED 1,697 TPS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS BY PROVIDING CLOTHING AND RELATED ITEMS. THE OFFSITE PROGRAM SERVED 1,669 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS FROM OUTLYING SCHOOL DISTRICTS AT AREA WALMART STORES. TPS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS RECEIVED 2 UNIFORM SHIRTS AND 28,000 SHIRTS WERE DELIVERED TO 41 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS. CLOTHES CLOSETS MET THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF STUDENTS IN 16 SECONDARY SCHOOLS AND SERVED 3,911 STUDENTS. AN ESTIMATED 7,000 ELEMENTARY STUDENTS RECEIVED CLOTHING SENT DIRECTLY TO 20 SCHOOL SITES. THE SCHOLAR AWARDS IS AN EDUCATION PROGRAM PAYING $18,704 IN COURSE FEES FOR 106 TPS STUDENTS CONCURRENTLY ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE COURSEWORK.
ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF TULSA, INC. RECEIVED FUNDS FROM THE EMMA R. SHOWMAN TRUST TO ENDOW THE BETTY BRADSTREET ASSISTANCE FUND IN 2002. THE ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE HAS DETERMINED THAT THE INTEREST AND DIVIDENDS GENERATED FROM THE PRINCIPAL WOULD BE AWARDED EACH YEAR TO LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND ORGANIZATIONS IN SUPPORT OF THE ARTS. AWARDS TOTALING $104,143 WERE GIVEN TO 63 AREA TEACHERS FROM 12 SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO ENRICH FINE ARTS IN OUR SCHOOLS.
