THE PURPOSE OF THE EDMOND HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND MUSEUM IS TO HOUSE A MUSEUM IN ORDER TO PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF EDMOND AND PROVIDE PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. THE EDMOND HISTORICAL SOCIETY WAS FORMED WITH A MISSION TO ESTABLISH A MUSEUM AS A MEANS TO PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF EDMOND BY COLLECTING ARTIFACTS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND DOCUMENTS; TO MAKE THE COLLECTION AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC THROUGH EXHIBITION, PUBLICATION, AND OTHER PROGRAMMING; TO ENCOURAGE AN AWARENESS OF EDMOND'S HERITAGE THROUGH EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY; AND TO OWN REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY.
