THE MISSION OF LEFLORE COUNTY YOUTH SERVICES, INC. IS TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT TO THE YOUTH AND FAMILIES OF LEFLORE AND HASKELL COUNTIES.

COMMUNITY BASED YOUTH SERVICES YFS WORKS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY TO SHELTER, MENTOR, EDUCATE, AND EMPOWER ALL YOUTH, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN IN CRISIS, AND THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM EMOTIONAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS. YFS EMERGENCY YOUTH SHELTER PROVIDES SAFETY AND SECURITY IN A NURTURING ENVIRONMENT TO ABUSED, NEGLECTED, AND/OR HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES (DHS) OR OFFICE OF JUVENILE AFFAIRS (OJA) CUSTODY. COUNSELING AND HEALTH SCREENINGS ARE PROVIDED, AND EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES ARE EMPHASIZED.


ANGEL TREETHE ANGEL TREE PROGRAM HELPS PROVIDE CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN IN THE AREA EACH YEAR. ONCE A CHILD OR SENIOR ADULT HAS BEEN REGISTERED AND ACCEPTED AS AN ANGEL, THEIR CHRISTMAS WISH LIST IS SHARED WITH DONORS IN YOUR COMMUNITY WHO PURCHASE GIFTS OF NEW CLOTHING AND TOYS. THE GIFTS ARE DISTRIBUTED TO THE FAMILY TO PLACE UNDER THEIR FAMILY CHRISTMAS TREE.


TOBACCO-FREE LEFLORE COUNTYTHE MISSION OF TOBACCO-FREE LEFLORE COUNTY IS TO END THE INFLUENCE OF TOBACCO BY ENCOURAGING YOUTH TO NEVER START, PROMOTING QUITTING, AND WORKING TOWARD A TOBACCO-FREE ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL. LCYS WORKS CLOSELY WITH TOBACCO SETTLEMENT ENDOWMENT TRUST (TSET) TO HELP CREATE A COMMUNITY WHERE PEOPLE LIVE, WORK, PLAY AND LEARN IN A TOBACCO-FREE ENVIRONMENT.


COUNSELING SERVICESPERSON-CENTERED COUNSELING SERVICES PROMOTE EMOTIONAL STABILITY AND POSITITVE BEHAVIORS IN MORE THAN 2,000 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN THE COMMUNITY EACH YEAR, INCLUDING CHILDREN RESIDING IN THE EMERGENCY SHELTER AND THOSE PARTICIPATING IN OTHER YFS PROGRAMS. YFS PROVIDES BOTH CRISIS INTERVENTION SERVICES AND TREATMENT FOR ONGOING BEHAVIORAL AND EMOTIONAL DISORDERS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND DEPENDENCY. YFS COUNSELING PROGRAMS INCLUDE OUTREACH SCHOOL-BASED COUNSELING, FIRST-OFFENDER PROGRAM, COMMUNITY AT-RISK SERVICES (CARS) FOR YOUTH IN THE JUVENILE SYSTEM, AND FAMILY COUNSELING
