CONTINUE TO STRENGTHEN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CITY OF OKMULGEE, COUNTY OF OKMULGEE AND OADC BY SUPPORTING COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES AND THEREBY ENCOURAGE POSITIVE GROWTH AND PERCEPTION OF OUR COMMUNITY. THE PECAN FESTIVAL IS AN EVENT THAT WAS BROUGHT BACK FROM 12 YEARS AGO. IT HOSTED SEVERAL ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDED MOCKLAHOMA, A CARNIVAL AND SEVERAL ARTS AND CRAFTS AND FOOD VENDORS. THE REVENUES THAT WERE BROUGHT IN FROM THESE ACTIVITIES WERE $93,476 AND THE EXPENSES WERE $100,032.
THE CHAMBER HAS A CONTRACT WITH THE CITY OF OKMULGEE. THIS CONTRACT IS FOR THE RESPONSIBLE SPENDING OF TOURISM DOLLARS RECEIVED BY THE CITY. THE CHAMBER RECEIVED $41,500 AND EXPENSED $41,429 ON VARIOUS TOURISM ITEMS LIKE ADVERTISING, SEMINARS AND PROMOTIONAL GOODS.
THE ANNUAL BANQUET RAISED $10,772. EXPENSES FOR MEALS, LINENS, PUBLISHING, ETC. WERE $5,848. THE BANQUET WAS HELD IN NOVEMBER 2016 AT OKMULGEE COUNTRY CLUB AND THERE WERE 200 MEMBERS AND GUESTS.
