THE PROP SHOP'S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE BASIC SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES IN NEED THROUGH VOLUNTEERS, COMMUNITY, AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. IT PROVIDES FREE CLOTHING, HOUSEHOLD GOODS, AND FURNITURE TO LOW-INCOME FAMILIES.

THE PROP SHOP MAINTAINS A FAMILY SERVICES AREA TO PROVIDE LOCAL FAMILIES WITH CLOTHING, HOUSEHOLD GOODS, AND FURNITURE FREE OF CHARGE. IT IS STOCKED BY DONATIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY, AND VOLUNTEERS WORK TO MAKE SURE FAMILIES' NEEDS ARE MET. CLIENTS ACCESS A SECTION OF THE PROP SHOP'S FACILITY FOR FREE CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS. TO MEET FURNITURE NEEDS, THE PROP SHOP MAINTAINS A LIST OF FURNITURE REQUESTS, WHICH ARE MATCHED AS DONATIONS ARRIVE. THE PROP SHOP HAS HELPED MORE THAN 3,500 FAMILIES THROUGH ITS FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAMS SINCE IT FIRST OPENED IN 2007. IN 2023, THE PROP SHOP HELPED 809 FAMILIES IN ITS FAMILY SERVICES ROOM. IT PROVIDED 14,071 BAGS FILLED WITH CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS, 375 BEDS, 53 COUCHES/LOVESEATS, 203 DRESSERS, AND 81 TABLE & CHAIR SETS.


TO FUND ITS SERVICES AND TO PROVIDE LOW-COST SOLUTIONS FOR ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, THE PROP SHOP OPERATES A RESALE STORE OF DONATED ITEMS. PROCEEDS FROM THE RESALE STORE SUPPORT THE FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAMS OF THE PROP SHOP. THESE PROCEEDS ENABLE PURCHASES OF NEW UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS, TOWELS, AND OTHER ITEMS, WHICH ARE NOT DONATED IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF LOCAL FAMILIES.


EXCESS DONATIONS OF IN-KIND GOODS FOR WHICH THE PROP SHOP DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT CAPACITY ARE GIVEN TO OTHER 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP THEIR RESPECTIVE CAUSES. THE PROP SHOP GAVE MORE THAN 460,000 OF IN-KIND GOODS TO OTHER ORGANIZATIONS IN 2023.
