FERAL COMMUNITY CAT PROGRAM & LOW-COST SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM: SPAYMART'S COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING INCLUDES CONTROLLING THE NUMBER OF FERAL/COMMUNITY CATS BY PROMOTING TRAP/NEUTER/RETURN (TNR) AS OPPOSED TO TRAP & KILL. THE PURPOSE OF NEUTER SCOOTER CAMPAIGN IS TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS REGARDING THESE CATS, ENHANCE THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE & PROMOTE PUBLIC HEALTH. UTILIZING LOCAL LOW-COST VETERINARIANS, WE NEUTERED 68 FERAL CATS AND RETURNED THEM TO THEIR COMMUNITY. WE OFFER A FOOD PANTRY AS ADDED INCENTIVE FOR COLONY CARETAKERS AS SUPPLIES LAST.
ADOPTIONS/SANCTUARY/THRIFT STORE AND ADOPTION CENTER SPAYMART HOUSES OVER 300 HOMELESS CATS ANNUALLY. OUR SANCTUARY LOCATED IN SEMI-RURAL PICAYUNE MS HOUSES BETWEEN 135-175 CATS AWAITING ADOPTION.EACH ANIMAL HAS BEEN STERILIZED,VACCINATED & MICROCHIPPED, AVOIDING COMPOUNDING PET OVERPOPULATION. SPAYMART PARTNERS WITH PETSMART AND OTHERS;WE ALSO PROMOTE ON OUR WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK PAGES. THE THRIFTSTORE/ADOPTION CENTER IS AN OUTLET FOR ADOPTING OLDER CATS & IS LOCATED IN THE NEW ORLEANS AREA. COMBINED SANCTUARY/THRIFTSTORE ADOPTIONS WERE 45 CATS, INCLUDING 6 IN OUR SENIORS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM. ALSO 2 CATS WERE TRANSPORTED TO OTHER NO-KILL SHELTERS FOR ADOPTIONS AT THOSE FACILITIES.
KITTEN FOSTER PROGRAM: TO ASSIST PEOPLE FINDING ORPHANED KITTENS & MOMCATS TO FIND ALTERNATIVE TO EUTHANASIA. KFP OFFERS HELP FOSTERING, FINDING LOW-COST VET SERVICES, SPAY/NEUTER (INCLUDING MOMCATS) & TNR IF NEEDED.KFP OFFERS CARETAKERS HELP IN KITTEN CARE,SUPPORT & ADVICE TO FIND BEST HOMES THROUGH OUR PROGRAM. KITTENS MUST BE VACCINATED, DEWORMED, SPAYED/NEUTERED & MICROCHIPPED BEFORE ADOPTIONS.KITTENS ARE PLACED THRU PETSMART,PETCO AND OTHER PARTNERS & WEBSITES. ALL ADOPTERS ARE SCREENED & APPROVED PRIOR TO ADOPTION. AN ADOPTION FEE OF $85 REIMBURSES KFP FOR VETS, ETC SERVICES. THE KFP IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER PROGRAM & IN 2022 PLACED OVER 700 KITTENS & MOMCATS INTO GOOD HOMES.
