THE SPCA OF TEXAS IS AN INDEPENDENT NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SERVING THE ANIMALS AND PEOPLE OF NORTH TEXAS THAT HAS SERVED THE NORTH TEXAS COMMUNITY FOR OVER 85 YEARS. OPERATING TWO SHELTERS, A SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC, A MOBILE ADOPTION VEHICLE, AND AN ANIMAL RESCUE CENTER, THE ORGANIZATION IS HEADQUARTERED IN DALLAS AND ELLIS COUNTIES. A TEAM OF ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATORS RESCUES HUNDREDS OF ANIMALS ANNUALLY FROM CRUELTY IN NORTH TEXAS. THE SPCA OF TEXAS ALSO FUNCTIONS AS A RESOURCE CENTER, FOSTERING CONNECTIONS BETWEEN PEOPLE AND ANIMALS. ANIMAL SHELTERS, REHABILITATION AND ADOPTIONS: FOUNDED IN 1938, THE SPCA OF TEXAS IS A 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATION THAT OPERATES TWO ANIMAL SHELTERS AND A RESCUE CENTER: THE DALLAS ANIMAL CARE CENTER IN WEST DALLAS, THE ELLIS COUNTY ANIMAL CARE CENTER IN WAXAHACHIE, AND THE RUSSELL E. DEALEY ANIMAL RESCUE CENTER IN WEST DALLAS, TEXAS. THESE FACILITIES PROVIDE SHELTER, REHABILITATION, AND CARE FOR UNWANTED ANIMALS, WHICH COME TO THE SPCA OF TEXAS FROM A VARIETY OF SOURCES, INCLUDING STRAYS FROM UNINCORPORATED DALLAS COUNTY AND ELLIS COUNTY, RESCUED BY AND AWARDED TO THE SPCA OF TEXAS IN CASES OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT, TRANSFERRED FROM MUNICIPAL SHELTERS AND RESCUE GROUPS, SURRENDERED BY THEIR OWNERS, AND TRANSFERRED FROM OTHER SHELTERS IN THE WAKE OF NATURAL DISASTERS. THE SPCA OF TEXAS DOES NOT PLACE TIME LIMITS ON ANIMALS ACCEPTED BY ITS SHELTERS, AND DOES NOT EUTHANIZE ANIMALS FOR LACK OF SPACE. THE SHELTERS ALSO SERVE AS ADOPTION CENTERS WHERE THE PUBLIC CAN MEET AND ADOPT PETS. ADOPTABLE SHELTER PETS ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED, VACCINATED, MICROCHIPPED, AND KEPT HEALTHY AND HAPPY BY SPCA OF TEXAS SHELTER VETERINARIANS, SHELTER STAFF, AND DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS. TOGETHER WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS FOR MOBILE AND OFFSITE ADOPTIONS, AND GENEROUS PARTNERSHIPS WITH NORTH TEXAS MEDIA, THE SPCA OF TEXAS FOUND LOVING HOMES FOR MORE THAN 3,500 ANIMALS IN 2023.

PUBLIC VETERINARY CLINICS AND PET RESOURCE CENTER: THE SPCA OF TEXAS OPERATES ONE LOW-COST VETERINARY CLINIC, THE MYRON K. MARTIN SPAY/NEUTER AND WELLNESS CLINIC IN WEST DALLAS. THE CLINIC PROVIDES HIGH-QUALITY SERVICES AT LOW COSTS SO EVERYONE CAN AFFORD TO BE A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER.SPCA OF TEXAS VETERINARIANS AND MEDICAL TEAMS SPAY OR NEUTER, VACCINATE, AND MICROCHIP EVERY ADOPTABLE ANIMAL IN ITS ANIMAL SHELTERS, AND ALSO PROVIDE SERVICES TO FINANCIALLY STRUGGLING OR OTHERWISE CHALLENGED PET OWNERS WITH FREE OR LOW-COST SERVICES THROUGH ITS RUSSELL H. PERRY PET RESOURCE CENTER, AT THE CLINIC AND MOBILE VACCINE CLINICS. IN ADDITION, THE PET RESOURCE CENTER PARTNERS WITH INDIVIDUALS, OTHER ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO PROVIDE FREE FOOD AND OTHER SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME OR UNDERSERVED PEOPLE AND THEIR PETS. EACH YEAR, THE SPCA OF TEXAS' VETERINARY AND PET RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAMS HELP MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR MORE THAN PETS, AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM, BY PROVIDING MORE THAN MORE THAN 10,000 WELLNESS VISITS, MORE THAN 7,500 SPAY OR NEUTER SURGERIES AND MORE THAN 145,000 POUNDS OF FOOD.
ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATIONS UNIT: THE SPCA OF TEXAS FIELDS A TEAM OF THREE FULL-TIME HUMANE INVESTIGATORS, A CHIEF INVESTIGATOR, A CASE MANAGER, AND A VETERINARIAN WHO RESCUED MORE THAN 750 ANIMALS FROM CRUELTY AND NEGLECT ACROSS TWO NORTH TEXAS COUNTIES IN 2023. THE INVESTIGATORS WORK WITH LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO INVESTIGATE CRUELTY AND RESCUE ANIMALS FROM ABUSIVE AND LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS, GATHERING EVIDENCE, AND BRINGING THE CASES TO TRIAL. TYPICAL CASES INCLUDE PUPPY MILLS, ANIMAL HOARDING, ANIMAL FIGHTING, AND ABANDONED, STARVING AND/OR INJURED ANIMALS.
