CHRISTUS FOUNDATION SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER'S PRIMARY PURPOSE IS TO PROMOTE PHILANTHROPY AND CHARITABLE GIVING TO PROVIDE RESOURCES TO ENHANCE THE ABILITY OF CHRISTUS HEALTH NORTHERN LOUISIANA IN ITS MISSION OF EXTENDING THE HEALING MINISTRY OF JESUS CHRIST BY PROVIDING FOR THE COMMUNITY'S HEALTH NEEDS. IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE PURPOSES, THE FOUNDATION SOLICITS AND RECEIVES CHARITABLE GIFTS AND GRANTS TO ADMINISTER AND INVEST AND REINVEST THE SAME AND TO APPLY THE WHOLE OR ANY PART OF THE INCOME AND THE PRINCIPAL EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE HEALTH CARE FACILITIES, SERVICES AND HEALTH COMMUNITY PROGRAMS SUPPORTED OR OPERATED BY CHRISTUS HEALTH NORTHERN LOUISIANA WITHIN ITS SERVICE AREA IN NORTHERN LOUISIANA. THERE IS AN ANNUAL ASSOCIATES CAMPAIGN CONDUCTED FROM OCTOBER 1 TO NOVEMBER 30 TO ENCOURAGE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ALL CHRISTUS HEALTH NORTHERN LOUISIANA PROGRAMS. DURING THE HOLIDAYS, CHRISTMAS JOY CAMPAIGN BROCHURES ARE SENT TO PREVIOUS DONORS TO ENCOURAGE CONTRIBUTIONS IN MEMORY OF OR IN HONOR OF LOVED ONES AND BUSINESS ASSOCIATES. CHRISTUS SCHUMPERT CHILDREN'S MEDICAL CENTER SERVED AS A CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK HOSPITAL IN 2016, AND SUCH PARTICIPATION PROVIDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THROUGH BY ENGAGING IN PARTNER CAMPAIGNS AND AN ANNUAL TELETHON. OTHER CAMPAIGNS ARE INTRODUCED FOR SPECIAL ROJECTS AS NEEDED. PUBLIC FUNDRAISING EVENTS ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO BENEFIT CHRISTUS SCHUMPERT CHILDREN'S MEDICAL CENTER AND "RUN WITH THE NUNS" WHICH BENEFITS CHILDREN'S HEALTH PROGRAMS. CHRISTUS HEALTH NORTHERN LOUISIANA HAS SERVED RESIDENTS OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA, SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS, AND EAST TEXAS FOR MORE THAN 100 YEARS. CHRISTUS SCHUMPERT IS A 611 LICENSED BED FAITH-BASED HEALTH SYSTEM PROVIDING ACUTE CARE AT TWO LOCATIONS IN THE SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CITY AREA. THE FACILITIES ARE CHRISTUS SCHUMPERT HEALTH SYSTEM AND CHRISTUS SCHUMPERT-HIGHLAND HOSPITAL. THE HEALTH SYSTEM ALSO OPERATES TWO STAND-ALONE WELLNESS CENTERS, TWO URGENT CARE CLINICS AND A STATE-OF-THE-ART CANCER TREATMENT CENTER. CHRISTUS HEALTH NORTHERN LOUISIANA IS PART OF CHRISTUS HEALTH, FORMED IN 1999 TO STRENGTHEN THE 153-YEAR-OLD, FAITH-BASED HEALTH CARE MINISTRIES OF THE CONGREGATIONS OF THE SISTERS OF CHARITY OF THE INCARNATE WORD OF HOUSTON AND SAN ANTONIO. FOUNDED ON THE MISSION "TO EXTEND THE HEALING MINISTRY OF JESUS CHRIST," CHRISTUS IS CHALLENGED TO REACH OUT TO, AND BEYOND, MORE THAN 60 COMMUNITIES WE SERVE TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. CHRISTUS HEALTH RESPONDS TO THE HEALTH CARE NEEDS THROUGH SERVICES PROVIDED AT MORE THAN 60 HOSPITALS AND LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES,AS WELL AS DOZENS OF HEALTH CARE CLINICS, PHYSICIANS' OFFICES, OUTPATIENT SERVICES, AND COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS IN TEXAS, GEORGIA, IOWA, MISSOURI, LOUISIANA, ARKANSAS, NEW MEXICO, AND MEXICO.
