THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES INPATIENT, OUTPATIENT, EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE, HOME HEALTH AND REHABILITATION SERVICES. THE HOSPITAL HAS 210 ADULT BEDS, 72 REHABILITATION BEDS, 22 ICU BEDS AND 48 OB BEDS FOR A TOTAL OF 352 LICENSED BEDS. THE HOSPITAL TREATED 11,249 INPATIENTS AND HAD 331,790 OUTPATIENT VISITS IN 2021. ALSO, IN 2021, TOURO HAD 7,909 SURGERIES (INPATIENT, OUTPATIENT AND AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTER), 27,855 EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT VISITS, AND 2,589 DELIVERIES.LCMC HEALTH IS A NEW ORLEANS-BASED, NON-PROFIT HEALTH SYSTEM ON A MISSION TO PROVIDE THE BEST POSSIBLE CARE FOR EVERY PERSON AND PARISH IN LOUISIANA AND BEYOND, AND BRING A LITTLE MORE HEART AND SOUL TO HEALTH CARE ALONG THE WAY. ORIGINALLY FOUNDED BY [CONT'D ON SCH. TOURO INFIRMARY IS A TEACHING HOSPITAL OFFERING MEDICAL STUDENT AND POST GRADUATE MEDICAL TRAINING. IT HAS ACADEMIC AFFILIATIONS WITH LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER AND TULANE UNIVERSITY HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER. TOURO OFFERED TRAINING PROGRAMS TO 745 STUDENTS, RESIDENTS AND FELLOWS IN 2021 IN THE SPECIALTIES OF ALLERGY, INTERNAL MEDICINE, EMERGENCY MEDICINE, CARDIOLOGY, NEUROLOGY, GENERAL SURGERY, GASTROENTEROLOGY, NICU, OB/GYN, GENERAL VASCULAR SURGERY, OMFS, MED/PEDS, NEONATOLOGY, PEDIATRICS, PLASTIC SURGERY, OPHTHALMOLOGY, PM&R, PAIN MANAGEMENT, PULMONARY, ORTHOPEDICS, OTOLARYNGOLOGY, AND UROLOGY. TOURO IS ALSO A CLINICAL TRAINING SITE FOR [CONT'D ON SCH O] NURSING AND ALLIED HEALTH PROGRAMS FOR VARIOUS METRO NEW ORLEANS COLLEGES INCLUDING: LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY (NEW ORLEANS, LA), DELGADO COMMUNITY COLLEGE (NEW ORLEANS, LA), DILLARD UNIVERSITY (NEW ORLEANS, LA), AND SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY (NEW ORLEANS, LA). TOURO INFIRMARY CURRENTLY OFFERS TRAINING PROGRAMS TO STUDENTS IN RESPIRATORY, RADIOLOGY AND NURSING. IN 2021, TOURO INFIRMARY STAFF PROVIDED 9,898 HOURS OF SUPPORT TO THE 61 STUDENTS IN THESE PROGRAMS.IN 2021, TOURO REHABILITATION CENTER PROVIDED CLINICAL TRAINING TO PHYSICAL, OCCUPATIONAL, SPEECH THERAPY, REHAB COUNSELING AND THERAPEUTIC RECREATION STUDENTS FROM COLLEGES AROUND THE COUNTRY, INCLUDING: LSU HEALTH SCIENCES (NEW ORLEANS, LA AND SHREVEPORT, LA), DELGADO COMMUNITY COLLEGE (NEW ORLEANS, LA), UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA (MOBILE, AL), UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE (KNOXVILLE TN), AND GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY (GRAMBLING, LA). TOURO STAFF PROVIDED 8,680 HOURS OF SUPPORT TO 23 STUDENTS AND/OR TEACHING GROUPS.
COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES AND COMMUNITY BENEFIT OPERATIONS PROVIDE FREE HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAMS AND SCREENINGS TO THE COMMUNITY. THESE PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO FOCUS ON SOME OF THE MOST PREVALENT DISEASES IN THE NEW ORLEANS COMMUNITY, SUCH AS DIABETES, HEART DISEASE AND CANCER. THESE PROGRAMS ADDRESS PREVENTION, EARLY DETECTION, TREATMENT AND MAINTAINING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. IN 2021, TOURO INFIRMARY OFFERED OR PARTICIPATED IN 109 TOTAL COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS, WHICH WERE ATTENDED BY 1,507 PEOPLE. THIS NUMBER AND LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION WAS SEVERELY DOWN IN 2021 DUE TO COVID-19 LIMITATIONS ON MEETINGS/GATHERINGS.
DURING THE YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2021 TOURO PROVIDED $907,946 TO FURTHER LCMC AND LSU'S PARTNERSHIP TO PROVIDE PATIENTS WITH ACCESS TO STATE-OF-THE ART CLINICAL SERVICES AND CLINICAL TRIALS. THESE FUNDS ARE TO BE USED IN SUPPORT OF THEIR CLINICAL , RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN THE AREAS OF ANATOMY, PHARMACOLOGY, AND PHYSIOLOGY, AND ARE INTENDED TO PROVIDE A TANGIBLE BENEFIT TO SOCIAL WELFARE THROUGH RELATED PROGRAMS AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES.
