PHARMACY OUTPATIENT INFUSION THERAPY - THE PHARMACY OUTPATIENT INFUSION THERAPY DEPARTMENT OF MERCY HOSPITAL FORT SMITH FILLED 161,903 ORDERS. INFUSION THERAPY MAY BE NEEDED WHEN THE CONDITION CANNOT BE TREATED EFFECTIVELY BY PILLS OR OTHER ORAL MEDICATION. MOST OFTEN, THE DRUG IS DELIVERED DIRECTLY INTO THE VEINS BY IV, BUT INFUSION THERAPY MAY ALSO REFER TO SITUATIONS IN WHICH MEDICATIONS ARE PROVIDED THROUGH INTRAMUSCULAR INJECTIONS OR EPIDURAL ROUTES. INFUSION SERVICES INCLUDE CHEMOTHERAPY, COMPLEX BIOLOGICALS, BLOOD PRODUCTS, ANTIEMETICS, ANTIBIOTICS, ANALGESICS, IMMUNOTHERAPY, INJECTABLE MEDICATIONS, AND INVESTIGATIONAL THERAPIES.
OPERATING ROOM - THE OPERATING ROOM PERFORMED 3,423 SURGERIES. THE INPATIENT OPERATING ROOM IS USED WHEN A PATIENT IS ALREADY ADMITTED, OR THE PATIENT REQUIRES MONITORING AFTER THE PROCEDURE. ROBOTIC-ASSISTED SURGERY IS ALSO PERFORMED IN THE INPATIENT OPERATING ROOM.
INTENSIVE CARE UNIT - THE ICU CARED FOR 863 PATIENTS, TOTALING 12,375 PATIENT CARE DAYS. THE INTENSIVE CARE UNIT IS LOCATED ON THE 3RD FLOOR OF THE MAIN HOSPITAL. THE CRITICAL CARE PATIENTS ARE USUALLY ADMITTED THROUGH THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. THE ICU HAS 38 LICENSED BEDS. ALL ICU BEDS ARE IN PRIVATE ROOMS.
