ROTARY CLUB OFFERS ITS MEMBERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENRICHMENT IN THE COMMUNITY AND CIVIC SERVICES; GOALS ACHIEVED BY WEEKLY PROGRAMS AND LOCAL SERVICE PROJECTS, GRANTS TO FUND LOCAL PROJECTS OF NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS, AND SCHOLARSHIPS. ONE MAJOR PROJECT IS THE ROTARY LEARNING BUS. THE LEARNING BUS IS A PROJECT BEING WORKED ON IN PARTNERSHIP WITH COMMON GROUND AND STEP FORWARD TO HELP GET THE CHILDREN OF CEDAR GROVE READY TO READ THROUGH "ROVING LEARNING HUBS." PARTICIPANTS WILL BE GIVEN MINI-LESSONS ON LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT, LITERACY SKILLS, AND NUTRITION IN A FUN, FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT. ADDITIONAL PROJECTS DURING THE FISCAL TAX YEAR INCLUDED: A DISTRICT GRANT AWARDED TO THE SHREVEPORT OPERA EXPRESS FOR PRODUCTION OF EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS TO DISCUSS IMPORTANT TOPICS (SUCH AS DIVERSITY, ACCEPTING AND BULLYING) TO PRESENT TO ELEMENTARY AGE STUDENTS AT UNDER-SERVED SCHOOLS, PARTICIPATION IN THE 4H JR. LIVESTOCK SHOW FOR FUNDS TO GO TOWARDS THE 4H STUDENT'S SCHOLARSHIP, AS WELL AS OTHER SMALL COMMUNITY PROJECTS.
